First time here, got a recommendation on Facebook. The carpark is large and easy to park in. We are outside due to restrictions. There are 2 areas to sit outside. There's tables out the front of the pub, these do suffer slightly from road noise. The other alternative is the covered area around the back. This offers chairs and tables which a slightly quirky. There is a couple of heaters on the wall which are nice in cold weather. The service was really quick, efficient and friendly. The menu is fairly good old fashioned pub grub, and is well priced. A very welcome change to some of the vastly over priced places that are around. Food was really good quality, hot and came quickly. The deserts were just as nice and tasty. A good range of beers, ciders and wine were on offer. Very impressed and definitely going to be back.

The Royal Standard continues to buck the trend of the modern public house by doing 2 traditional things very well. It wins awards year in year out for some very well kept ales, and it serves honest, no messing about tasty pub grub. Forget foams, smears, dehydrated this that and the other, you come here for a decent Chilli, Fish & Chips and Sausages & Mash. Huge value for money - 2 mains and 2 alcohol free beers for £27! Friendly staff and a pub with regulars, it's a proper destination pub but not for the usual reasons... You'll come here for a no nonsense pub experience and long may it continue.

Fantastic cosy rural pub, visited lots of times over the years, all staff are exceptionally friendly and accomodating, food is home cooked to a high standard, great arrange of beers and ciders, good out side seating area, also a hut on the side, dogs welcome, nice oldey worldy inside with beams, a must visit

This is how a pub should be. This is like waking into a pub 20 years ago without the smoke but with all of the atmosphere and frivolity it used to have. There aren’t many places like this left and we treasure this place and the decor although clean and tidy is like the old days. That’s a good thing. Staff are always so friendly and the food is good value and served quickly. There are no frills to this place but there doesn’t need to be. A fabulous place for a bite to eat, a catch up and a nice drink. The wood burning stove was lit tonight and was just perfect as the weather had turned cold today. Various tables of various sizes chatting about their week with vigour. Thank you for never changing and the warm hug you get when you...
