I just wrote an effusive, really descriptive review of our lovely time here yesterday afternoon, but then my wife somehow deleted it before posting it, so this will sadly probably end up being a less well written version. Quite simply our lunch at Ruin Beach Cafe was, hands, down the highlight of our lovely trip to Scilly. This place just got everything right, from the views and ambience, to the food, drinks and service, we had a wonderful, laid back lunch experience. We weren't even all that hungry on arrival so nearly didn't bother to pop in, but once we were told that everything could be made gluten free my options really opened up and happily we both found an appetite as we nibbled on some tasty olives with our GnT and non-alcoholic Pentire Spritz. Service from Marshall was friendly and attentive without being overbearing, and the Vinho Verde recommendation really hit the spot. Stand out dishes were the crab linguine (freshest, tastiest simple bowl of [gluten free alternative fusilli] pasta I've had in a long time, topped with handfuls of shredded white crab meat), and the chocolate mousse with cherry compote and hazelnut caramel sauce, with matched dessert wine for that extra layer of decadence. Sad that we won't be able to go back any time soon, but this place will be on our list to return to next time we...

Just wanted to say how amazing the staff were to me and my son. It was our first time to visit we just felt so welcomed by friendly smiling faces and just so helpful. The food was out of this world, you have to try the pizzas so delicious. My son wanted an extra take away pizza for dinner which he sadly dropped on our way out and we came back to see if we could order another one. Even though the kitchen was closing the staff & the chef just offered to make another pizza for my son and they even gave us a few extra treats to take home. This is more than an amazing place it’s a place to go and just be treated with love and kindness and the best service ever. You cheered up a little boy with your smiles and kindness. Thank you wonderful team at Ruin Beach you made our day yesterday. No doubt we will...

We entered this lovely venue (I loved it last year) at 5pm to be told that the dinner was served from 6:30. So we took a table that was booked for 7pm by someone else, had a couple of beers and tea while waiting for the dinner. At 6:30 I asked for the menu and the lovely lady said that we would not be able to leave before 7pm so she could not serve us and “she thought we’ve just come for drinks”. She offered, alternatively, seating outside in the rain or take away pizza. We have felt very unwelcome there and left with no intention to ever come back which is not very pleasant as I will have to stick to New Inn for the future.

Every single of you, make sure first, that you’re the one they will treat as a...

I was really impressed by the food here: I had crab linguine (with a lovely kick of red chilli) and the chorizo and chickpeas in red wine, and both were really delicious. The rest of the family had pizzas which they all really enjoyed. I also appreciated that they had a non-alcoholic beer on tap (1664). I'd love to come back another time and explore more of the menu!

Great service, beautiful surroundings (on the beach) and great food. The lunch menu had a limited choice but unsure about the evenings menu. The price for the food is a little high but you are paying for great surroundings. If you have a young family try and book the table in the old ruined house which has room for 10 complete with an old fire place...but no roof!
