My daughter and i visited wednesday with my grandson and elderly family friend at lunch time. It was very cold and windy ,so upon opening the door and having the heat hit you was welcoming. Fires roaring away to themselves in each of the rooms so guaranteed a cozy visit. . Lovely staff with great customer service. We ordered drinks and food while sat relaxing in this quaint pub. Food arrived quickly and was well worth the money. ,veg lasagne was a good portion , fish and chip was over the sides of the plate ,as it was so big and my stake and ale pie was scrumptious. Parking at the rear of the pub for a few cars , toilets nice and clean, very homely ,cozy feel to the place. Can't wait to visit again. X

The Ship Inn dunswell is a proper traditional friendly village pub. Four cask conditioned real ales, exactly what a good pub should offer, but not very common these days. It's a lovely cosy pub with real fires and excellent traditional pub food. There is a lot of outside seating to the side of the pub, and a very nice garden with more seating at the back. Dogs must be kept on a lead as there are some lovely rare breed chickens free roaming in the back garden. The pub also offers plenty of accommodation in cabins behind the pub. Decent sized car park. A great pub highly recommended.

Omg The best pub food I've tasted. Warm friendly staff and atmosphere we even had my parents 60th wedding anniversary meal there for all the family and they could not have been more accommodating. Well worth a visit Sunday lunches are wonderful too but it gets very full 12 till 1pm so better to go 1pm to 4pm

The rooms are built around a courtyard with flowering shrubs in an 'L' shape to the rear of the Ship Inn, so no noise from the pub, their car park or the busy road. Though it looks recently built or very well maintained the thermal and accoustic insulation maintains a quiet and warm room.||||In room 7 there was a comfortable two seater settee and the room had sufficient light to read once the lighting got up to full operating temperature. The hard furniture is quite simple but effective with plenty of hanging space and you can easily see you have not left anything. ||Two double 13 amp sockets with one of them with 2 USB charging points included above the desk/ table area, a full length and another large mirror in the room suitable for dessing and make up.||Though it was a double room, there was only one chair for breakfast, should there have been two of us. ||As I don't have the "heart attacks on a plate" breakfasts the Continental supplied was what I normally eat, though I am glad I took my own museli as there was || only ' Snap,Crackle and Pop' and Weetabix as cereals. A pint of milk and a large bottle of good orange juice in the fridge along with a large yoghurt, butter and preserves. There was a croissant or two in sealed plastic containers to retain their freshness.||The usual Tea tray.||The bathroom was clean and functional with shower over the bath.||A heated towel rail kept the bathroom warm and dried the towels. The lighting was effective in order to have a wet shave, something often missed in Hotels and the corporate type places. Attention to detail. ||It would seem things have been well thought out designing these rooms, so well done Caroline and her husband. Talking of which, they are both a pleasant personable couple along with the staff I met, most I would think live quite local.||As we come up to the Hull area several times a year, this will be my first port of call for availability.||The rooms have their own parking area separate from the pub car park and is close enough to the covered walkway to the room doors.||Through the room window the view is a lawn surrounded by trees which will block any housing infill that seems to be creeping into the area. Several times I saw rabbits and birds feeding on the lawn.||The Ship Inn looks as if it has gone quite a transformation with all walls taken back to the brickwork and sealed, then decorated in a tastefull manner with maritime artifacts.||There must have been 6-8 pumps on the bar including one from the local brewery, Newsomes.||I cannot comment on the food served as I only had a chicken baguette and salad close to their cut off time the kitchen was good enough to provide, but it was pleasant enough and did the job.||||Keep up the good work...

We stayed here in the quarters at the back of the pub. I honestly can't think of a bad thing about the pub, staff or accommodation. The owner knew we were there for a funeral, we actually arrived really late the night we checked in, and even though we could only book the twin room, they set up a spare bed for our daughter, which was a lovely surprise because we had no idea they were going to do that. The owner also came a sought out my kid to go and feed the chickens and donkeys since he'd seen her trying to get their attention earlier. We'll still visit Hull every so often, and this will be our base, wouldn't stay anywhere else now.

Thank you all for the fantastic welcome and service, you made a huge difference...
