The chef clearly thought it was okay to send burnt chips out of his kitchen, the server thought it was okay to serve them. When asked if everything was okay with the meal I said about the chips and the remark from the young waitress was ‘oh’ another waitress walked past and viewed our plates and said those chips look awful to that I replied they are, at this point my daughter and I had enough… the first waitress came to collect our plates and could see we hadn’t ate a lot then asked again if everything was alright… clearly I was polite and said not… she then spoke with her manager and we got offered a free dessert to which I kindly declined… I just wanted a decent meal with my daughter… other peoples chips looked fine. I paid for the disgusting meal and left… won’t recommend and won’t be returning!!! The shire was always a place I have been with family and friends… shame as I have always regarded as an okay place. My stomach all night was churning and this morning it’s aching…

We've visited the Shire a few times now, every time the food has been very good and the service likewise. It's a very popular place due to the carvery, so if that's your thing I'm sure you won't be disappointed (the portions are huge). The menu has plenty of other options for most tastes including vegan and veggie. Drink wise they have a great selection of alcoholic and non alcoholic depending on your needs. If you are in the area and looking for good food, service and atmosphere...you won't go wrong with the Shire. Be warned: Booking in advance is essential for busy weekends as people queue out of the door to get in, it's that popular. Bonus... It's very dog friendly which is important for visitors with 4 legs.

We have been on a self-catering break in Cornwall and decided the last 2 nights to eat out. Having passed the Shire Inn we decided to try it out. The first night we tried the Calvary. It was very good indeed. We were served by a very friendly lady with pink hair who was very attentive to our needs. On the second night we decided to go from the menu, again the food was delicious, portions were large especially if you have had a starter which we did. The cakes look amazing but alas we were too full to try them. The second night we were served by a young man who again was very polite and friendly. The barman also was most cheerful. I highly recommend this place with its nice ambiance friendly staff and good food. 😁😁😁

I recently dined at The Shire Inn Restaurant and had a pleasant experience. The restaurant was clean and had a friendly atmosphere, which added to the overall positive impression. In terms of pricing, I found the menu to be well-priced considering the generous portions of food served.

My kid thoroughly enjoyed her meals, and the portion size was satisfying. The only minor issue was that the food was served very hot, but we quickly resolved that by allowing it to cool down a bit.

My partner ordered from the limited vegetarian menu and chose the Lasagne. While she felt that it could have been better, she acknowledged that taste preferences can vary, so it might have been a matter of personal preference.

As for me, I opted for the roast, and I must say, it exceeded my expectations. The portion was substantial, and the flavours were delicious. I would definitely recommend it to others.

Lastly, I couldn't resist trying the homemade cake, which came at a cost of £5 per slice. Though it might seem a bit pricey, I found it to be worth every penny. The cake was delectable and made for a delightful end to the meal.

Overall, The Shire Inn Restaurant provided a pleasant dining experience with friendly service, well-priced meals, and delicious dishes. I would certainly visit again, especially for their mouthwatering roast and indulgent...

This is the first time I've left the shire feeling very disappointed. I got home from work today and decided to ring the shire to c if we could book a table, I rang up and asked for a table for 4 adults and a 2 year old that would need a high chair. We arrived at 5.45 and there was a little discussion with the staff over our table, we were then shown to our table, we sat down and a waitress came over and said there was a bit of a mix up with our booking and we needed to move to another table but we'd need to be done by 7pm, I said how do u expect us to get a 2 year old to rush her food!. I was quite mad and asked the barman if I could speak to a manager as it wasn't our fault that a mistake was made by staff, he had a look at the diary and said that he would sort it. A couple of minutes later a waitress came over to us and said there's another table we can move to and stay until 7.45, we were getting fed up by then and said can we stay where we're too and put the other family on that table, eventually it got sorted and we were able to order our meal. To be honest the evening felt ruined and we felt we were being watched so we rushed our meal. As soon as we finish a waiter was straight over to take our plates. We were going to order deserts but were really put off so we...

Average meal out but over priced for the food quality and service given.

When we arrived we were greeted in a warm friendly manner, and swiftly taken to our table. We required a high chair for our little boy, but was told the server would bring one when they came to collect our drinks order. Nearly 15mins went by with no acknowledgement from a server, so I had to locate the high chair myself, which was dirty, with both food and grease stains. The server eventually arrived and took drinks and food orders.

The seafood sizzler was very disappointing, only having salmon in, and a large quantity of veg. The server arrived to do the hospitality check after we had finished, so I asked the question about the seafood and what it should include. Unfortunately prawns and the other fish were missing from my "premade" portion (which lead me to believe it wasn't as fresh as I expected for the £18 paid. I was offered a free drink to apologise.

We were brought out the dessert menu but the server never reappeared, so I had to grab someone to take our order. The desserts were very tasty and good value for money.

I then had to go to the bar to pay the bill as again, the servers had disappeared.

Unfortunately won't be returning, as I felt I overpaid for both the food and...
