I've given this place 1 star as I don't think you can give it 0 (Google you need to address this as if I want to give it 0 Stars I should be able to).
Green king you owe the community an apology as you've taken a wonderful, family oriented, heart of the community pub and turned it into I'm not sure what, to be honest I don't think it knows either.
So I'll start with our arrival, we were greated (that was nice) then told you can sit wherever you want no taking you to your table and pulling your chairs out for you.
So we ordered drinks, here I will advise you to go for bottled or cans of drink as I really do believe mine was watered down, I don't drink so I also ordered low/0% alcohol beer they actually had my favorite (credit where credits due) although it wasn't cold and needed ice (so yet again watered down). Whilst we decide what to have we like to have some poppadoms which we couldn't order as they come free with the meal once you've ordered ,these I have to admit were overpriced. They come with 3 sauces (I called them traffic lights as they were red, yellow and green). These weren't a pleasant experience there was only one I liked, as for the yellow one me and my partner are still in discussion as to what it was (he thinks apple my guess is mango both sauce) we do agree on one thing that is it was far too sweet. Poppadoms over they came to clear the table, we asked to keep the sauces for our starter so he left them in fact he left everything no clean plates for us. The starter I enjoyed although I felt it was overpriced(perhaps they are earning that star after all). Main course, caution one rice between two it is a big portion but truthfully forget the rice it's disgusting my partner thought it was microwave rice but uncle Ben's is better. I had the butter chicken which actually should be renamed to salt chicken because that's all I could taste. I was expecting something very rich and creamy but all I could taste was salt. My partner enjoyed his dish. I nearly forgot I also had what they called a kheema naan (omg I nearly cried) I'm not sure what it was but it wasn't what I'm used to it was such a disappointment. So the bill arrived (this time my partner nearly cried) he asked me about a service charge which I told him it was a tip yeah 12% added on without our permission (a bit sneaky I think), it is legal I know but most places ask I personally prefer to leave something on the table for whoever has served us but here that would have been difficult as I think nearly all served us. So a tip... Customers if you go here check your bill.
Green king your name is on that pub get it sorted, I hold you responsible. I have been there on a number of occasions and had lovely meals and enjoyed myself, it was a great disappointment my experience last night. You need to decide what that place now is whether it be a pub or an Indian restaurant and specialize in that cuisine. When I go to an Indian restaurant I expect a choice to try something new and exciting that's not what I got here I could've gone to any of the major supermarkets and brought a jar (it would've been a lot nicer and a dam site cheaper)for what you have on your menu.
Basically overpriced and confused. I've suffered so you...
Read moreDecided to visit for the first time for lunch with family. We received a warm welcome and were offered seating quickly and were also asked if it was okay. On sitting we immediately noticed the aroma of Indian food which definitely started a gastric juices flowing. Our drinks orders were taken and we proceeded to order the food. The first of which was a mixed grill for 3, this arrived in around 10 minutes and served on a sizzling iron platter. The worth of any mixed grill is how well the lamb chops are cooked, I’m pleased to say these were one of the most tender tandoori chops I tasted and set the tone for the rest of the items which were equally as good, especially my firm favourite, Dal Makhani. This was delicious, the right consistency that stick to your spoon without running everywhere. It was full of flavour and went down a treat with accompanying garlic naan, only point to note though was the naan I felt was on the smaller and thinner side, a slight negative.
The Amritsari fish was coated in a light batter that literally melted in your mouth and was a hit with all the family.
Equally the plate of papaddi chaat didn’t last which was still a decent portion for a starter and was adequate for 4 people.
The chilli paneer wasn’t too chilli and had a nice blend of sweet and sour too with the sauce it came in.
We came away suitably filled up and will be sure to pay a return visit as well as trying out their delivery service in the not too...
Read moreThis score should not be a reflection of the food because the food was very good however the Manager who tends to sit behind the bar, collect money, answer his phone mid service to keep you waiting and the very young waiter have the worst attitude I've seen in the Industry or come across anywhere in service. If you ask for anything they behave as if you are costing them something almost huffing and puffing under their breath. Took half an hour to bring tap water and he just started wiping the counter pointlessly whenever you ask for anything and says give me a minute. They need to take one good look at themselves because the only thing keeping this place going is the Chef and his kitchen staff. In addition my husband was the only person stood at the bar waiting to be served. He was completely ignored by the Manager behind the bar who instead served a new family behind him that then approached the bar therefore potential discrimination or mishap, I will leave that one to you. Our party was left to tend to itself, no plates for your poppadom starters, not enough dinner plates, glasses, etc you literally had to ask for everything you needed to actually dine. Waiters almost run past our tables to the kitchen so that you can't ask for help. Their faces look so angry and annoyed. Terrible service and arrogance from a Manager puts this place below par but good quality food....
