We went along for the Thai All-You Can-Eat "buffet", having really enjoyed The Mexican buffet that was put on last October. Unfortunately this time around, the meagre selection on offer before us, was around 1/3 of that which was available for the Mexican last year and none of it looked particularly appetising at all. Sadly this was all but confirmed when going back to our table with our plates of food, as none of the dishes had any flavour to speak of and it was all rather unpleasant, especially the Thai Green Curry, which literally tasted of nothing at all. I couldn't even bring myself to finish the food on my plate as it was all pretty much tasteless, neither did 2 others in our party and we all decided to promptly leave after just 5 mins or so of sitting down with our food, as we were so disappointed with the poor quality of these supposed "Thai" dishes. We decided to go elsewhere for a meal instead, as we were all still starving hungry & had no intention of sticking around any longer than necessary and definitely had no intention of going up for seconds! Based on this pretty poor experience, I would sincerely hope that some major improvements will be made for the next buffet night that Star Inn puts on again...

I've been here several times over the years and never been disappointed. It's in a lovely location just outside of St Day, and has a lovely outside area, with one part also sheltered. The selection of drinks are great, and the variety and quality of food is brilliant and also reasonably priced. I've attended events here such as music and karaoke in the pub itself which is always a great atmosphere, and also hosted and attended events in the Marquee, which is well presented and again reasonably priced. When hosting, I played Spotify through the speakers in the marquee, there was a staffed bar and I could bring my own buffet food in too. The owners of the pub liased with us directly and were great to talk to. All the staff have been brilliant in my experience, and the atmosphere feels relaxed and safe. They also cater for allergies and food intolerances, especially if you let them know in advance. (They ensured the all you can eat curry night was safe for a relative with coeliac when we called and asked). There's an outdoor area with many benches where kids can play and parking for customers. I highly recommend this place for events, food, drinks, gigs and...

Update January 2024. The massive carpark has now grown cameras and warning signs. Bit off putting when it’s not an area where parking is in heavy demand - expect it stems from some misuse. Anyone easy enough, just log on car reg at bar. Extensive beer choices and food choices. Ordered a ciabatta, sausage and onions - just a light snack. Well pleased to get a filling plate/loads of sausages. And wide range of options available, food range is very good. New outside area works well, sofas, tables, heating etc. Very extensive menu and decent pub grub. Worth a stop.

The Star Inn, became like a local to us having a Holiday cottage very close by enabled us to eat here a few nights. A well recommended pub with large gardens and out door areas for drinking and eating. Main bar area and two dining/table areas for eating. Friendly staff, A really good selection of good tasty food at reasonable cost was on offer too with plenty of Real Ales and ciders to choose from to wash it all down. All in all a worthy visit if you are in the area.
