Went in on Friday night for a friends birthday meal and by the end of the night i was embarrassed that i had even suggested coming here. Although the place was virtually empty, we waited up to an hour for food, before we were told there was only 1 chef in by one of the waitresses. When the food came out, it was not the good quality tasty looking food we were used to. Every single meal (4 total) was either over cooked or had missing ingredients. Riley, i believe was the supervisor that night, was absolutely lovely when we asked for our food to be fixed and explained all their chefs were ill and they had to outsource chefs. He was apologetic but this didn't help with our food or the fact we had not been made aware of the wait, before we ordered. Most of it was sent back to be wasted and my group ate the birthday cake we bought in, then left. The meat feast pasta had no meat and spice, they fixed the spice but still no meat. The burger was missing onion rings and sauce, and the beef patties and chicken breast were dry and overcooked. The mixed grill was overcooked, the sharing slow cooked bbq chips had no sauce and the pork was tasteless. They squirted the sauce on after we sent it back. The pizza looked like a super market...

Decide to try out the inn , never been for a few years and it was a bank Holiday, What a bad decision, soon as we sit a waitress came up and give us our menus and then told us that half the menu was not available and no monday specials , was disappointed but decided to give it a chance , We both ordered the roast beef wrapped in a Yorkshire pudding, when it came it looked very dry and no gravy , I had to ask for some gravy , the meal was awful so dry , meat was ruined , I assumed it had been frozen and then defrosted I could still taste the ice inside it , the meal had no flavour even the vegs , my wife's was the same and the gravy did not help no flavour too , we eat half and then left food and drinks was £40 What a waste of money , it was not what I wanted , the service was not very professional, would not recommend too anyone , give it a miss , seems to me that it will be closing down soon , with substandard food , so I will...

Went here for Sunday dinner on my birthday, I never normally order Sunday dinner from pubs or restaurants, because they are usually pretty poor, compared to homemade ones, I saw how good they looked here, ordered a lamb dinner and it was the best I've had out anywhere (including several high-end places), it actually tasted homemade and came with lovely thick gravy and was a very decent portion, nice Yorkie too. That followed on from a very tasty crispy chicken in sweet chilli sauce with garlic bread that was perfectly cooked and a lovely ameretto semifreddo to round it off, totally stuffed, would highly recommend and would definitely go back again! Very attentive waiting staff (and plenty of them), an absolute gem and easily one of the best pub dining experiences in the North East! I can't wait to go back to try the regular menu! Thanks very much for a very...

We found this place whilst up north travelling back from an event. We had 2 roast lunches for £15 and what great value it was. Yorkshire puffing was massive and not all air. Extra gravy provided without asking which was tasty and big bowl of veggies came separate. This is not posh nosh or a place for a special occasion in my view but its lovely staff, good honest food and a google search shows a 4 star hygeine rating. If i was local i would go again.

Consistently great meal, come here regularly just for eats. Nice old pub with a Sunday lunch to die for. Service was excellent and very friendly even though they were very busy. Meal deals during the week seem like value for money and we’re going to try them when work commitments allow. Quite a small car park which quickly filled for 12 noon so get their early (serving from 11:30am). I’d highly recommend this Gastro pub.
