02.06.25 - We asked the bar staff if we could park overnight in our motorhome (not a problem Chloe replied and advised where to park due to deliveries in the morning in case we were disturbed). The pub is immaculate with a very friendly/calm atmosphere. It also has stunning views from the beer garden. We had a few beers beautifully poured by Chloe and Sam. We ordered the steak and ale pie with mash and another with chips for hubby. I can honestly say this is the best steak and Ale pie we have ever tasted. The meat just melted in your mouth. The veg/chips/mash and gravy were cooked to perfection and the gravy was to "die for"! Needless to say nothing was left on the plate!. I asked Chloe to inform the chef we loved the food (thanku to Chef Jordan). Jordan - we need the recipe please 👍. The portions were huge so sadly we did not have room for dessert. We can't wait to have a return visit when we are again in the area. Thanku to Chloe, Sam and Jordan. 10/10

Have been here quite a few times, always manage to get booked in. staff friendly. There are two areas, restaurant or bar(dog friendly). They have board games to play, dog beds, water and treats available. Food is good, but expensive for pub food. More recently for main I had steak and ale pie of the day, for some reason it came with chips and mash but no gravy, my partner had the hunters chicken schnitzel which was full of flavour. For dessert my partner had lemon tart which was so so tasty, I had the banoffee choux bun, wasn’t overly impressed, the filling reminded me of when use to get banana flavoured amoxicillin as a kid haha, overall we have had nice experiences here and not every meal is for all. Will go back.

Firstly the car park overlooks part of the Tyne Valley, which in winter looks moody. The pub was warm and the staff were friendly and helpful. I got the king prawns and chorizo and triple cooked chips. My friend got the mushrooms with garlic and triple cooked chips. Salty, spicy chorizo went well with the prawns, bread and chips. We both really enjoyed the triple cooked chips. My only problem with the place is one customer was with friends and constantly and loudly 'F' this and 'F' that. It made the pub seem rough. We questioned whether the swearing man was angry. The locals may be used to it, but as a visitor it can be uncomfortable.

Visited recently with my family, which includes young children. The pub looks very modern, clean and the dining area was spacious.

However, the experience went downhdownhill from there. The menu has far too many over complicated dishes for a pub of its kind, although there are some classics available. The prices are also very high, far higher than I would expect.

As far as the food itself was concerned, it was extremely disappointing to say the least and the portions were far too small, especially given the price. The children had cheese and tomato pizza, which was burnt and resembled charcoal in places. The kids sausages also looked over cooked and the adult dishes weren't really any better.

We did have pudding, in part because we were still hungry after the main course. The puddings again were overpriced, only the hot drink and mini pudding was reasonably priced. To be fair the puddings were nice but there was a big gap between the drinks being brought out and the puddings, which meant that the drinks got cold.

The serving staff were also poor as they made a number of mistakes, bringing out dishes which were wrong despite us clearly explaining the order to them. They were friendly enough but not proactive enough, we had to approach them and no-one asked us if our meal was ok.

Overall this is not a pub we would visit again or that we would recommend.

Nb we were only offered one pudding as compensation for burning my daughter's pizza and they got that wrong, covering it with sauce when we asked for it plain. They also put the wrong flavour ice cream on my Son's dessert.

The poor service with our coffees and desserts was also telling given the issues which they were already aware of.

I'm not sure what a phone call would achieve as they could have spoken to us when we were there rather than only making the offer after a negative review. I hope that they simply improve the food and service as it could be...

Very disappointed on visiting the swan heddon today. Was treating my friend who is vegetarian to lunch for her birthday however the menu only offered three options what she could have so she politely asked if perhaps she could have chef do her an egg sandwich as there was egg on menu for other dishes and was instantly met with no as we have no way of putting it through the till …I pointed out they could put it through under a different sandwich name but the girl was having none of it.. my friend however said please ask chef and the girl came back saying it was impossible as it wasn’t company policy!!! She has never encountered this before and any other pub/restaurant have had no problem what so ever and considering we were the only two people at 2pm in the huge pub I thought they would have been glad of our trade! It really spoilt our day as my friend had to have lettuce and chips for her birthday lunch and my chicken sandwich was very much lacking chicken! Overall a very disappointing experience which considering the beutiful views and the lovely pub we most certainly won’t be back!! I also pointed out there was never any offers or publicity for the place and was told it was all done on social media which I’ve never ever seen and older possibly clientele would never know it exists as hidden away!! Again a real shame as it’s a beautiful hidden gem...

Food is substandard and expensive. A Toby Carvery would offer food with as good, or better quality at a much more affordable price. Untrained staff waited on us, which was fair enough but he shouldn't be waiting tables if he's not fully trained as he needed assistance. In his defence, that's completely the pubs fault and not his own. I caught eye of a senior staff, probably management talking to him in a condescending manner, I rest my case! 2 mains, 2 puddings and 2 pints at £61 is ridiculous, hence no tip. My Turkey Breast lunch barely took up half the plate and that was with an expensive "extra" of Pigs in blankets. As my partner is a vegetarian, she ordered Candied Vegetable Roast. I looked at it and it didn't look appetising at all, after eating it, she said it was Ok. I use to come to this pub years ago with friends and it was mega. It had a quiz machine, pool table and dartboard and good, affordable food. Soon after, it was taken over again and the machines and games were gone, fair enough as it was replaced by the carvery but now even that's gone and you're left with nothing but a posh reputation, substandard expensive food and a below par experience. To add, where we were sat was cold too. As much as it was loved years ago, I won't...
