This picture is AFTER I had got stuck into this heap big roast.

So I got a delivery on Sunday of a roast beef lunch; I was hopeful based on the web site but had not girded my loins sufficiently for this fayre. It arrived in different tin foil cannisters some with vegetables from the table of the Harvest festival itself - red cab, broc, carrots, snips, cheesy cauliflower, roasters and mash - and others with half a calf's worth of beef and Yorkshire pudding.

I mean, I could have cooked this myself. It tasted just like a roast lunch and there was more than I could shake a stick at. I might have to go for the kids' menu next time.

This is exactly how I would have cooked it myself and that doesn't happen very often as roast lunches are pretty personal things.

Then a chocolate truffle cheese cake which was just bonkers. It was pretty much lightly whipped cream on a sweet slightly ginger biscuit base with some choc additions. You gotta go here - it's a stonker. BUT salad would have been nice with the baked brie and perhaps some spicy fig confiture.

Nice...

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ | A Warm and Professional Experience at The Vagabond, Whitehaven

We were overall very happy and genuinely impressed with our visit to The Vagabond. The service was excellent – friendly, attentive, and professional throughout. The staff made us feel welcome and taken care of, which really added to the experience.

As for the food, we thoroughly enjoyed the meal and appreciated the quality and care that went into the cooking. We did offer a minor suggestion regarding the Hungarian goulash, which, while delicious, leaned more towards Western tastes with a more tomato-forward flavour than expected. This is, of course, a matter of personal preference and not a reflection on the skill or presentation of the dish.

Because of this small point of taste alone, we’d rate our experience a 4 out of 5 – though it’s worth stressing this is entirely down to individual palate rather than anything within the restaurant’s control.

All in all, a lovely place with a great team. We’d be happy to return and highly recommend...

What a cracking little pub / restaurant this was, me and my fiancée was meant to be meeting some family here as we are up for a few days but unfortunately covid got in the way so they couldn't make it which is a huge shame as we haven't seen them for a long time now.

Anyway.... We kept the table for 2 and it was a great atmosphere start to finish. I had the lasagne, which was very filling and tasty and fresh, followed by the sticky toffee pudding, which was again freshly made and tasty. The better half had chicken, ham and leek pie, followed by apple pie with custard which looked very tasty and that was freshly made also.

Overall, I couldn't fault anything here at all and the staff were friendly and welcoming, polite and just made the night brilliant which has put a great way to the end of our week and will return here again next time we are...

We were asked to pre order as there was 6 of us. On the day we were seated and after 30 minutes I asked how long the food would be and was told sorry there busy with delivery’s. 45 minutes it took for our preorder to come. The pizza was overall graesy and the chips weren’t cooked right through. you could clearly see they were rushed and the food was rushed My mother in law didn’t eat her chicken.it was tough it was hard to eat and hard to cut. Out of 6 meals only 2 enjoyed there’s.Then we looked on the bill and my sons can of Fanta was charged at £2.50 they should have charged what it stated on the can which was 80p

I had a great family birthday meal here. Staff were friendly and gave exceptional service. When the owner heard it was my birthday she organised a candle in my pudding and everyone sang happy birthday to me. Very friendly and welcoming here. Amazing food and dog friendly. When we had our meal the kitchen inspector arrived for an impromptu inspection, the staff remained calm and professional even though it was very busy and with a kitchen inspection going on. Was so pleased they passed their inspection, they really deserved it. Can't recommend this place enough 🙂
