Just been with my mum for our usual sunday scran, not been the walton arms in a long time so thought weâd give it a go! All sounded the part on the menu, really friendly waitress sat us where weâd be warm etc. Orders a sunday trio for my mum, fish and chips for me and a garlic and cheese mushrooms as the side for us to pick at. Half way through the mushrooms I bit into something hard so i spat it back out and found it was a blue piece of plastic that looked like itâd come from the corner of a container/tub of some kind. It put me off wanting to eat the rest of the fish and chips I was enjoying, as the sensation of biting and nearly swallowing plastic just turned my stomach. I pointed it out to the waiting staff immediately and they sent the manager over. Things happen so I wasnât annoyed nor did I make a fuss of it, but when the manager came over he said âweâve had a look in the kitchen and canât find ANYTHING that resembles that blue plastic we only use white plastic so donât understand how itâs gotten in your mushrooms, however I will take the mushrooms off the billâ Me and my mum replied kindly âyeh thatâs fine thank youâ and when he walked away we both commented that a simple apology would have been suffice not a slight insinuation that weâd brought this bloody blue plastic in with us and thrown it into our food, for what to save a few quid? Talking of saving a few quid however, with me sending the fish and chips back I did stupidly assume theyâd also be taking that from the bill or part of it atleast, Anyways long story slightly longer we were charged ÂŁ40 for a fish and chips (I didnât finish) and a carvery my mum pretty much only consumed the yorkshire pudding on (as the veg was undercooked BIG TIME) wonât be returning but thank you for making us feel as though we planted the blue plastic ourselves as a way to get out of paying an additional ÂŁ4, when we were happy to pay ÂŁ40 for practically inedible (though fancy looking) food. see picture of blue plastic spotted in mushrooms after weâd left from a video id taken and posted to my snapchat as soon as the food arrived. How i didnât notice it before iâd got stuck in iâll never know, thank god I did spit it out and not consume it. Waitresses lovely, Managers a...
Read moreAtmosphere a 5 since edit of 17/12/24, previously 4 as I first went in on a very quiet Friday night. On that first evening a great impression was made. Both staff serving me, Max and Alesha were very pleasant and helpful. I was informed this is a pet friendly place. Great News! I can bring my nearest and dearest and my little dog. Look forward to the next visit. Big thumbs up from me. SC.
I had a herbal green tea and a decaf cappucino and they were lovely. I treated myself also to hot fudge cake and custard both served hot. Delicious! Roughly a ÂŁ10 total spend.
The cold drinks you see here were made up by Jack. I canât drink alcohol and these drinks were delicious with many tropical fruit flavours.
Edit of 17/12/24 :
On Sunday 8th December my partner and my Dog came with me for the Christmas Dinner.
The serving of Turkey was huge and it was tender and steam roasted. On the plate was also a Yorkshire pudding with a Chestnut stuffing ball, roasted honey glazed parsnips, honey roast length cut carrots, a bed of green cabbage and a very tasty gravy. It really was top notch presentation and so tasty too.
The mincemeat and apple crumble topped with a crispy brown biscuity top was amazing and served with hot custard.
We were happy to have the two course option and we would have wasted food if we had chosen the three course option. We were satisfied with the quantity and happy for the overall experience. Our dog had sausages and she was very...
Read moreFirst visit in a long time to the Walton Arms. I booked to have a Sunday Roast today, before I ordered I did ask if they could make sure the food was hot. Unfortunately it was served Luke warm some areas was was actually cold including the parsnips, carrots stone cold & greens The gravy was also not hot. My lamb was nice although it was not warm & the roast potatoes was hard inside, cold & chewy. I just donât understand why food can be served cold. If youâre expecting customers to pay then you need to improve the quality of the food & check itâs temperature before serving. It just ruins the atmosphere for all involved when you serve food like that and I find it appalling that you expect your customers to eat it like that. I would never serve cold food to my children / family or friends ever. The staff was very helpful & understanding & the pubs atmosphere / interior was lovely.
Please, please ensure the food is hot when serving, youâre more likely to get food poisoning from Luke warm food than it being served hot.
When your food bill is reaching the ÂŁ100 mark with drinks then I expect fresh, hot food comming out of these kitchens.
It just puts me off going out for food & makes me want to just cook at home which is a shame, with us all working hard we deserve to eat out & get good meals with the...
