Unfriendly and terrible service

Arriving at 12.45 on a Weds lunchtime, on my own,. I was informed I couldn't buy any food as they were too busy. I only wanted a sandwich. The staff told me this in an unapologetic and rude tone Having then read the google reviews I was quite surprised to read the snippy aggressive tone in which they answered their many bad reviews. They seem to think people are just making this stuff up.

I have never left a bad review for a pub before now, but I have never been made to feel so unwelcome by such unpleasant staff.

as an example, see these responses. There are several more in this unbelievably rude manner.

Response from the owner4 weeks ago Wasn't particularly impressed with you either.2 females waltzed in no track and trace,2 males had to be firmly asked to complete track and trace. My staff were at no time rude to you,I know as I was there. …More

Great position on the waterfront but the food was dreadful. Ordered a cheese and onion bagette with chips and salad for quick lunch, told had no bagettes left only bread. What came out was was the worst sandwich I have ever had, 2 slices of what looked like it was from a value thin sliced loaf, very thinly sliced mild cheese and a few bits of onion. The chips were a few tastless french fries, not chunky chips like you would normally get and the salad is not even worth a mention. And they charged £6.50 for it!! Downstairs toilet was filthy, in a bad state of repair and very basic and unkept. There may have been more upstairs but as there were elderly people in our group it was not viable for them to go up the steep stairs. Staff not overly friendly, if anything a bit blunt. If we went again we would take a picnic and sit on the chairs by the river bank, would definately not eat...

Nice location - shame about the service!

We were really looking forward to stopping at this pub on our canal trip. However, despite numerous assurances that they would serve lunch until 2.30 (one such assurance given less than half an hour before we arrived), when we got there at 2.10 we were told that the kitchen was, in fact, closed and wouldn't even make us some chips even though we saw food coming out of the kitchen for another 10 minutes. The chef / presumably the owner was also very rude when we were forced to get food from elsewhere, despite us buying a round drinks from the pub.

In hindsight we should have just sat 10 yards away on the waterfront and...

This is a nice little Inn situated by the canal at Pewsey Wharf, the carpark here is pay and display but it isn't expensive,so we got our ticket and popped into the Waterfront bar and bistro for a bite to eat,the downstairs part of the place was closed so we had to go upstairs for our meal......The lady was lovely and welcoming and sorted out our order which we received about 15-20 minutes later when the food arrived we couldn't believe our eyes as it was massive, more than enough that we could eat, It was very well presented on the plates and it was absolutely delicious so full credit to the chef.......After we walk along the lovely canal to burn it off.....

A bank holiday visit. Bar and tables plus garden open while downstairs was shut.View of canal and barges from some tables.Tables well spaced. Helpful and friendly staff.Food very very average. We only had ciabattas which came with fries and slaw but although nothing really wrong with them were so unspecial we wished we hadn't bothered - Maybe it was the slightly warm mass of soft ciabatta.

Warm, friendly welcome. Nothing was too difficult for the waitress even finding decaff coffee. 😊 The food was very tasty and a good portion size. I ordered steak and kidney pie and the pastry was hand made. I was able to swap the mash potato for a more veg. My friends want to make that our new halfway meeting point. The place was clean and we enjoyed the atmosphere x
