The Watermill Bar and Grill — Restaurant in England

What a fabulous place, found it by accident today, when I drove past and saw the Cafe sign on the road side. The signage could be better leading to it though, we nearly turned round but glad we didn't. We were amazed at the extremely tidy and clean well maintained site, really pretty ! Entering Manhattans we received a very warm welcome from a friendly and helpful young lady behind the bar, ordered our meals and sat at table no:8 looking out onto a beautiful court yard, surrounded by mature trees and shrubs in the middle was a large pond with bridge and a waterfall....stunning, what a fabulous place for a wedding, funeral, christening venue etc. The food, belly pork buns with gravy, chips and salad arrived very quickly, there was lots of it for the very reasonable price of £7.95 each. All nicely presented and tasted divine. Loved the decor, the colour schemes and the mis - match of the gorgeous colourful chairs, the atmosphere with backing music felt very relaxing and comfortable, also to mention, the orangery made the place sunny, bright and cheerful. Definitely going to return to try the Sunday carvery lunch and i understand there's a singer entertaining on a Saturday evening which we'd like to hear too (hope it's not just for entertaining the residents only) I could 100% completely highly recommend this hidden gem of a place....loved it !

Update.....24th Nov 2019 went back to try the Sunday Carvery. Greeted by a very nice, happy to help young lady behind the bar and a really nice young chef at the carvery bar. Paid £10.95 for one course. Pleased at the variety of vegetables, beautiful flavoursome gravy, very large yorkshire pudding, all the condiments that were required there too but disappointed pork wasn't being served so had the Turkey. On the whole enjoyed the dinner and well worth the price paid. I must add, felt the place or the staff let itself down, I was ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTED AT THE LARGE AMOUNT OF DIRTY SMELLY CIGARETTE STUBS BEING LEFT IN THE OVERFLOWING DISPENSER AT THE FRONT DOOR AND IN THE COURTYARD ASHTRAYS PILED HIGH FROM THE NIGHT BEFORE, PURE FILTH & LAZINESS NOT TO REMOVE THEM 🤢😷🤮 NOT NICE TO SEE...

Terrible! On arrival, we were seated straight away and the waitress then came back for our drinks order. We were ready to order mains, however she said she had two other tables to take orders from, then she'd be back. This has never happened to us before in any restaurant! I wouldn't have said it was busy really either. There were two or three waitresses that just seemed to be wandering around aimlessly. We finally ordered after about 20 minutes and luckily it wasn't too much longer until the food arrived. My husband had ordered gammon, and when it arrived it was swimming in grease. We had to use a napkin to soak it all up. Didn't bother to send back as we'd waited long enough to order it and were pretty hungry by this point! Weird spaghetti bolognese, served with mixed in leaves, probably just to bulk it out and use less meat. Have never had it served like this, even in Italian restaurants. We didn't get a check back until we'd finished, and we then asked for the bill. We were shocked to see that a 10% service charge had been added. We did not see anywhere on the way in that stated this would be the case. And after the experience we had, we certainly would not have paid a tip anyway. Maybe that is why they add it in the first place? Would definitely not recommend, drive a bit further done the road, and you'll find...

Absolutely horrific experience. We were the only ones in the restaurant and had pre ordered the tomahawk steak sharing meal. We had to ask for plates to eat from!!!!!!! The meal then included a bottle of wine which the waitress didn’t have a clue about available stock. We not offered any other drink options or even if we wanted water to go with the meal. The meal was put infront of us without any communication and we never saw a waitress at our table again. Instead the 2 girls stood at the bar on their phones eating pizza. We spent the entire meal listening to their conversation as they were talking that loud. Once finished, it took 10+ minutes for our plates to be cleared and then we had to ask for the bill.again the bill was placed infront of us with zero communication. After sitting for 20 minutes, we had to approach the bar to pay the bill. Not one care was given when I told them to remove the service charge as I refused to pay for something I hadn’t received. When I asked to speak to a manager I was told there wasn’t one on site.

But I have to say the food was amazing!!!!! Just completely and utterly ruined by the worst service I have ever received and total lack of atmosphere. We felt like we intruded on...
