A lovely thatched pub situated opposite Lulworth Castle. Beautiful patio garden setting with more garden area for those sunny days. We pre booked as advised on their website and were lucky to get a table. We visited on a Saturday evening and was clear to see why we needed to book. The Weld Arms is dog friendly and all the staff were very welcoming, especially the landlord (sadly I didn't get his name) The food was delightful. I ordered a steak and my mum and wife ordered the fisherman pie which were on the specials board. The steak was lovely with lots of flavour and the fisherman pies were described as the 'best I've ever had' by both. For dessert only I had room for one and so I ordered the poached rhubarb parfait, again delicious. I really can't fault the place and will certainly be back when we visit Dorset again.

Snagged a late Sunday afternoon reservation for Sunday Roast …and it did NOT disappoint! We’ve had several Sunday Roasts around Britain and this was THE BEST by far …as an American I despaired of ever finding the highly touted Sunday Roast pub meal ..until we came here !!! The au jus was perfect and, take my advice, get the Horseradjsh sauce ..it’ll knock your socks off ! And dessert ?? THE BEST STICKY TOFFEE PUDDING we’ve had in England, Scotland or Wales ! The cake was appropriately dense AND light, the sauce was delicious and the little toffee crisps tipped the experience over to EXQUISITE!!! The service was great and the atmosphere is casual and warm ! Do not miss this place while in Dorset !!!

Amazing place. We stopped here just by chance really and we were so happy we did. We started with pumpkin soup as it was very cold outside. We ordered it to warm ourselves up without expecting much from it taste wise… but we could not have been more wrong. Every dish (grilled cauliflower, burger, the puddings) was so well prepared, perfectly seasoned, beautifully presented and it was obvious that they used quality ingredients. The whole place is clean, well looked after, plenty of parking space. It’s not only worth of stopping there when you are in the area but this place is absolutely worth of planning a deliberate trip just to eat there. We so will be back there!

As an extended family we have met at this pub prior to our Easter weekend away in the Purbecks for at least the last 25 years. Most years the weather has been kind to us so we sit outside. This year, Good Friday was a bit wet so we decided to stay inside. There were probably 25 or so of us, turning up in small groups between 12 & 1pm. The pub was not busy but I could sense an anger from the bar staff as we started arriving. I offered that we moved away from the main bar to the other room, so that any other groups of people (or individuals) were not disturbed by us. I appreciate that we are a large group, however it has never been an issue in the past, and to be honest because of the weather I am sure their takings would have been down that day if we had not turned up. We ordered food, again in small groups, so as not to overwhelm the kitchen, and only ordered things like sandwiches, chips, burgers etc so nothing complicated. The woman behind the bar (older lady, Eastern European accent) could not have been more rude if she tried. Her constant tutting, pushing past people to take away plates that were still being eaten from, and the sour face for the entirety of our time there was extremely off-putting. I even loaded some plates & glasses that were finished with & took them to the bar myself, and this was again met with a frosty reception. When we were leaving, she told me that next year we need to let her know if we want to go there. I explained that we had been there for many years without issue, but she said it again, with another member of the bar staff & the manager stood beside her, allowing her to talk to us in this inhospitable manner. I told her we would be more than happy to find somewhere else to take our business. A couple of years ago we had a massive family function at this pub, and as I say, we bring them a lot of business, especially on a day when they should have bitten our hands off for the custom when the weather made it clear that there would not be much passing trade. This year was an important one for us, as after we left the pub we went to scatter my Dad's ashes, and the attitude of the staff at the Weld Arms did not help to keep our spirits up. It's such a shame that a long-standing tradition will now cease due to very bad...

My elderly friend and I had almost given up hope of lunch when the clock struck 2 pm (late September) and we were a bit lost just near Tyneham Village. Then, like a lake in the desert, we came upon this pub, which said "Open all day!"... or anyway till 4 pm for lunch. Parked car and elderly friend in car park and went in to explore.... a bit cautiously because the menu looked a wee bit upmarket for this permanently hard-up OAP, though the furnishings were (at first glance) mostly wooden and "sensible" . Took typed menu back to car for consultation with friend. We both rated it "A good menu". We opted for roast beef sandwiches and a really big and interesting salad (not a lettice leaf in sight), followed by Baked Alaska, washed down with a bottle of Elderflower Cordial. OK, yes, we were hungry but we both thought it was exceptionally good value for £33.for the whole meal and I can't speak too highly of that Baked Alaska! Wow! I thought we just might have died and landed up in heaven!! It was absolutely superb! Full marks + for whoever created that little masterpiece to tickle tastebuds and delight! Because my friend couldn't walk a charming young member of staff brought the food out to us in our car on trays, and was he very kind and helpful....(and liked my dogs!) We really appreciated the whole experience - and thank...

This is a nice pub with good decor and friendly staff. We were seated inside, but unfortunately near the door leading out to the garden which was wide open and the smell of cigarette smoke kept coming in.

Their venison sausage roll with homemade brown sauce starter was delicious, but served with salad on a tiny wooden serving board that seems to be trendy these days, it was difficult to eat.

They had two mains on the specials board which were crossed off and unavailable - this was at 7pm. We chose to have a main described as "Poole bay clam linguine with cockle popcorn, fresh chilli, lemon and garden herbs" on their menu. The sauce accompanying this was highly unusual! It was cream based and extremely sweet, almost like a custard flavour! We'd imagined it to be more like a clam vongole with the herbs and chili, which does not include any cream! Our fault for not checking the full ingredients before ordering I suppose, but neither of us were big fans of the taste of this dish - quite disappointing! Choice of desserts was quite limited so we decided to...
