We were recommended this place so took my mum today for her birthday. I'd booked a table. I had to ask for a children's menu for my 10yo. Don't know what age the cut off is, but 10 seems young. But we got one, and she took them and us over to our table. After being seated and our drinks order taken, another member of staff came immediately to take our food order. We had literally just sat down. Not even had chance to pick up a menu.
It was then ages before she came back to take our order. Mum really wanted gammon. She's old and has a very limited amount of things she's willing to eat. She asked the member of staff if the ham, egg and chips was gammon. She was informed it wasn't. But them mum said she didn't know what to have if they hadn't got gammon. I spotted it on the menu, and told her it was OK , she could order it. "Oh yes" the member if staff said. " We have gammon." It felt like she was talking down to my mum. She could have been helpful when my mum was a searching for it to show her that they did do it. Food came, and we ate, then we didn't see any staff for ages again.
Someone was seated at the next table to us, and I had to shout the staff to get a desert menu while she walked away, not thinking to check on us who had been sitting there for ages at the invisible table. Plus, we'd had no other drinks. No one had ever asked how our meals were . You know - the little courtesy thing that restaurant staff do after you've started eating.
Then after ordering deserts, my mum's didn't turn up. Waited a while, then I had to ask at the bar for it. It seemed she'd been forgotten.
They cleared the deserts and I asked for the bill. That came, but no one turned up for an age again to take payment. It's got 1 star for the food, cos that was OK, but the service was so bad. Especially as it was a special occasion. They'd have known too as mum had the cards on the table. How bery disapponing it was. And took nearly 3 hours just to have a 2 course meal when the place...
Read moreCame in on 17/03/2025 at around 15:00. Ordered fish and chips, My brother and partner ordered the wheel burger. The fish had a straight brown hair underneath it and the onion rings were so greasy there was a thick pool of grease at the bottom (more than you would expect). So I brought it to the attention of staff as discretely as I could. Unfortunately, the response was a fob off and they replied with "no one in the kitchen has hair that colour" despite some of the front of house staff having brown hair. It clearly didn't come from us as 1 of us was bald and the other two of us have afro-carribbean black hair. To add insult to injury I was told 'They didn't have to refund the fish as its a goodwill gesture'. I wasn't that fussed about the fish and chips being taken off the bill. More the apology and acknowledgement that somewhere between the food being served and it appearing at the table the straight brown hair had made its way into the food. What was worse was that I had eaten more than half of the fish before discovering the hair right underneath the fish. I really do love my food and have to say it's the first time I've immediately stopped eating and it takes alot for me to be put off my food (I am far from skinny
Just disappointed. It came highly recommended for a work function. So we decided to swing by just to test it out. Luckily there are other places close by that we can use.
Was a real disappointment as the fish and chips looked and tasted great as did the curry sauce. It was just let down by the manager who dealt with...
