Stayed in the village, so this was the local pub. Was surprised that the food was Indian (with a few basic English dishes). We had poppadom for starters (basket of poppadoms with 2 dips and salad) and 1/2 tandoori chicken with chips and salad. Lovely food and very nice staff.

Great pub and atmosphere. We had a fabulous curry there too which was delicious. Friendly staff who were very attentive. Would highly recommend. Look forward to our next visit.

We walked up here from the canal where we had moored opposite the Barn. Maps said it would be an hour's walk, but that is because it would not calculate us walking on a road. By narrow country lane in the dark - 30 minutes with an amazing full moon (and 4 torches for traffic and towpath!).

The White Hart achieves a comfortable balance of village pub feel and top-class Indian cuisine prepared by chefs of Indian heritage - no pre-packaged microwave food involved in this kitchen! (There is a small section on the menu for traditional pub fare).

If you go for a curry and add the rice you are in for towards £20 for your main. (PS I wish Indian restaurants gave plain rice for free and charge for specialty rice). However, the Biryani is amazing value for less than £20, and the lamb Biryani prompts this enthusiastic review. Add a couple of Guinness and you will walk out satisfied for £40 for 2 diners.

They do have a large screen TV in the front pub. There is a beer garden we didn't look at, and a larger 'function' section...

What a shame! It's going downhill fast! A couple of years ago i thought how lucky to have good food on our doorstep. However the past 2 visits have been made into a buffet type meal. It was just awful. We didn't even have any chicken curry. First time up the curry had run out and we had to wait for more. Everything else on the plate was going cold! When it did come out, it was mainly sauce and very little chicken. Some of us had none! Really watery and runny. All the poppadoms went quickly, but I did manage to get one! Desert was ice cream only but not even included in the price. They came like shop bought with a little wooden spoon, and weren't even transfered into a nice dish for presentation. I won't even go into the curried eggs!! So, unless this food goes back to ordering what I choose from a menu as we did before, we will definitely not return. The whole place is unwelcoming and souless....

Absolutely perfect from start to finish. Stopped here enroute by myself for a meal, I had booked a table in advance. Perfect service throughout. So refreshing to receive excellent and authentic Indian food. Dal Makhani did not disappoint - delicious! Sparkling water, did not have to ask for ice and lime - it just arrived together with the correct glass - both first time ever. Table well set with new beer and place mats. All the small things make a difference. Vibrant atmosphere - lovely blend of a restaurant and a well used local pub. Seating outside and plenty of parking. ...
