So sadly disappointed !!
I have eaten at the White Post Inn so so many times between 2006 and 2019. The first 12 years were amasing food wise, that's why we made it our local as Aussies. Always a huge home-cooked type tasty meal. But in 2019 before covid, in April, I could NOT believe the "meal" we were all given, all four of us. They forgot our order, and we were the only ones there. Firstly, when it did arrive an hour later, the "soup" was actually powdered soup, (I'm a chef) just powder in hot water. For "mains" we were given TINY portions, which were way over cooked and tasteless. I was so so shocked ..... and it was very expensive. We never received an apology etc, I really loved this place for over a decade, and have taken 2 years to choose to give this review, which really hurt me actually. But this was the worst "food" we had ever eaten anywhere in the world. I talked it up so much before taking my girlfriend there, with three mate who had eaten there with me for 12 years....we were just bewildered.
I say avoid the White Post at all costs ..... something I thought I'd never say !!
So so...
Read moreWent here for a family meal just before christmas.
The pub has a family atmosphere and is nice and cosy. The staff are really pleasant and very helpful.
We were sat around in the back in the 'restaurant' area for food. We were sat by the kitchen doors which open and close constantly which was slightly disruptive to your meal.
I had the soup of the day with crusty bread for starter. The soup was delicious but the bread was somewhat soft and aneamic. I would have given it another 10 minutes in the oven. It was ok for dipping in soup though.
For the main I had lasagne and chips. The chips were lovely and delicious. Proper pub chips! The lasagne was again, slightly anaemic and a bit bland but the portion size was good and you can't complain too much for what you pay for.
The food isn't anything particularly special but for the price, and the fact there is nothing like going to a local pub for a simple meal, I would...
Read moreJust passing and decided to stop for a bite of lunch. Not busy apart from a bunch of regulars at the bar with plenty of free tables available. Very warm welcome from the bar staff who presented us with a very good menu. The first choice of food was not available hence the 3 star rating, but the second choice arrived, well cooked and hot, and well presented within a short time. Service was very good. Selection of three real ales on tap, with the usual selection of keg and lager. Posters on the walls advertising forthcoming Christmas and New Year events indicate a lively meeting place for locals. Beer garden oitside, but not in use due to time of year but probably popular in the summer. A typical homely country pub, unpretentious and noy 'plastic'. Would Would I return? If passing, yes, but as a...
