The last time I visited here was for lunch before the latest refurb, so decided to visit again for an evening meal. We booked a table for 8pm on Saturday evening. On arrival it was busy at the bar and had to wait a while for someone to arrive to seat us at a table. The restaurant wasn't busy at all and had a choice of tables to sit at. We ordered drinks and the waitress was very pleasant, professional with a warm smile. We ordered one pate and a side bread to share between the three of us. It was plenty albeit the pate portion was on the small side. For mains two of us ordered the Forestiére Chicken Breast, stuffed with spinach & mozzarella, wrapped in pancetta with a wild mushroom sauce served with spinach and fries. I oredered the Slow-cooked Pork Belly, with chive mash, green beans, apple sorbet, crackling and a red wine jus. The meals were delicious, hot, fresh tasting and just the correct portion sizes. For desserts we ordered a Vanilla & Orange Crème Brûleé, served with home-baked shortbread biscuits. A Baked Orchard Tart with apples, blackberries and rhubarb baked in sweet pastry and vanilla sponge served with blackcurrant curd and custard. A latte just for myself. All desserts again were lovely and all finished. The meal came to just over £100, including 4 glasses of wine and a pint of shandy. No sneaky service charge which was a nice omission. Overall we enjoyed the evening in a really nicely decorated venue and friendly staff. It was really quiet for a Saturday evening but that could be due to the cost of living crisis starting to bite. We will be back!

Awful experience today. We came here for Sunday Dinner a couple of years ago and it wasn't good, food nor service, but having seen it had been refurbished and a new menu, we decided to try it again today for lunch and give it another go. Wish we hadn't. Artisan breads were completely stale. Got given more but were still stale, just hotter than the first lot where they'd been heated up. My husband ordered the pulled beef hash, which had literally about 3 strands of beef, the rest was just potato and egg. After complaining, we were told the chef said that was the right amount he'd given as they're limited on how much to give and need to portion it out. This meal was just under £9. My fish finger wrap was literally just that . Fish fingers, greasy as you like in a wrap. No extras, like salad inside, just greasy wet battered fish and a conjealed, warm, tartare sauce with skin on fries that were clearly from a packet. Probably an absolute max of £2.50 worth of ingredients for £9.50. We were so disappointed and disliked the food so much we just had to leave. With the cost of everything going up, this was a luxury for us and was a complete waste of £30. Never again will we visit

My daughter has moved in to the area and this is her local pub so we decided to go for some food....and I'm so glad we did. This is a lovely pub inside and out, great garden to sit in, and the inside has been done out rather nice, but the best thing about this pub is the food....I had a duo of lamb and I was blown away....it was cooked to perfection and I have to put this meal in my all time top 10 of meals Ive eaten...even the other members of our group agreed...it is a fantastic place, and the staff are friendly. The only criticism I can find about this place is that the restrooms are on the first floor or though they do have a disabled toilet on the ground floor.....but I can look past that....loved the place and food, so I would highly recommend and definately go there again. Update: 5 days after posting this review, the owner contacted me and thanked me for writing it and basicly said he was glad we enjoyed it, and would show it to the staff for a job well done..this shows they care, not only to the customers but appreciate their staff as well...another reason you should all try this place out...very highly recommended. Thx again!

We visited The Windhover for lunch on 28th May as a party of 3; my wife, her aunt and myself. On arrival we were greeted by Nicole, who opened and held the door as I was bringing my wife's aunt in a wheelchair. Access around the bar and restaurant area was easy, with tables well-spaced and I was able to 'park' the chair without obstructing or inconveniencing other customers or staff. Service was prompt and Rebecca took our drinks order almost immediately. After that we were served by Nicole who was attentive, good-humoured and professional. The food was delicious and we thoroughly enjoyed our meals. Portions were generous and everything was properly cooked and hot. Nicole checked on us a couple of times, being attentive but not intrusive. She 'introduced' me to the app, which I have since downloaded. This was an enjoyable experience in a clean, pleasant atmosphere with good food served by friendly, professional staff. We will be back. In fact we were back today, 7th July for Sunday lunch. Again, the food was of a very high standard, served well-cooked and hot. The Sirloin was lovely and plenty of vegetables accompanied it, along with delicious roast potatoes. We were looked after by the delightful Daisy, in the friendly and professional manner to which we have become accustomed here. It is good to note that the standards we have experienced during the week are maintained by different staff at the weekend. Despite the restaurant being very full, service was prompt and efficient. Full marks. I think it is worth booking in advance as this is clearly a popular weekend venue.

As Google does not permit a second review, I'll add to this. My wife's Aunt is a resident in the nearby Care Home so we are frequent visitors as it is a short 'wheelchair push' to get here. We visited again today, 1st August 2024 and we received attentive, professional and friendly service from Rebecca and Nicole. The food was first rate, generous portions served hot from the extensive menu. Another enjoyable experience and great value for money.

Another visit, this time on 19th June 2025. Once again, we were looked after by Nicole and were pleased, not really surprised, to see that the same high standards of food and service continue to be maintained. I think the Dining Area may have been re-decorated as paintwork was clean and bright. Nicole was, as usual, efficient, friendly and attentive. Food was brought promptly and was hot, obvioulsly freshly prepared and not 'kept warm'. Clearly the kitchen staff know what they are doing so my comments and appreciation extend to them. We have visited several times since I last added to this review and I'm happy to say we had good experiences on each occasion. This is a most pleasant place in which to dine, especially on a warm summer day. We'll be...

I was the one that decided to choose The Windhover in Northampton as pre-refurb I have had some amazing dining experiences including my daughter's graduation. There were 8 of us who were very excited about a quality evening out together and your new surroundings and decor are just gorgeous, however the rest of the experiemce from start to finish was an embarrassing experience from start to finish. The waitresses were absolutely lovely but they were constantly having to apologise for everything. The first drinks took ages to come to our table, so much not available on the menu! No chicken whatsoever which eliminates half of the menu ! No rainbow trout and many other dishes which made ordering impossible! The food we chose was cold, it looked uninteresting and inedible, the plant burger presentation was dreadful, no salad and half a cheese slice, there was nothing on the plate and the chips were overcooked and cold. We all asked for replacement food as it was cold and the waitress said they could not replace the 2 cold lamb kofta's as you had run out but they could be warmed up and brought back? We did ask to see the Manager for that evening but she showed little interest and when we asked to see her again as the meal progressed the waitress said she was unavailable! Our booking was 7.15pm and no food had got to our table until after 9pm? The waitress said you were 3 staff down in the kitchen? We found the whole experience disgusting and I , as the organiser was hugely embarraseed as we had to leave and go and eat elsewhere as everyone was hungry. We will not be returning at any point and I will not recommend to anyone. Such a shame as we had high expectations. We didn't have to pay for any of our food or drinks so I thank you at least for that. The little blonde waitress with long hair was superb so please convey my thanks for managing a very...

Very poor experience late afternoon yesterday. We had booked at 5.30pm for a meal for two. We had actually just got engaged yesterday, so this was due to be our nice engagement meal. We arrived and waited near the bar, where 4 staff chose to ignore us. Maybe they were busy, but they need training to at least make eye contact, smile and say somebody will be with you in a minute. After about 5 minutes of standing there we were greeted and taken to our table. Our orders were taken fairly promptly. We then had a 10 minute wait for our bottle of wine, which was prepared very quickly, but just left on the bar. After this we had a further 15 minute wait for our sharing platter. When i started pouring our wine, i realised that there were lipstick marks all around my glass. As all the serving staff were stood by their till i took the glass of wine to the bar. I was then also ignored by 3 staff who didnt even look up at me. I eventually found a waitress who apologised. She got somebody else to sort my glass for me. After the starter was cleared away we had another 25 minute wait for our main courses. I should point out that the restaurant was not busy at any point, and the waiting for everything was not needed. The 2 stars i have given were for the food, as it was very nice. We had the sharing platter to start, then i had the 10oz steak for main, and my fiancee had prawn skewers. The food was very good, but did take an awfully long time to arrive. I should also say that the very poor service we had was not down to a lack of staff. We counted at least 12 staff within the bar and restaurant. I think it was purely down to poor training. We had been recommended this restaurant, so we chose it for our engagement meal. Although the food was spot on, we wont be returning, as we were made to feel ignored and...
