Wow . Possibly the worst eating out experience I’ve ever had . We called on a whim . My partner is gluten intolerant and this place offers possibly the worst choice for her . A jacket potato! The spud was tiny and cold inside as was my daughter’s. Obviously not microwaved long enough. She was served a giant bowl of Tuna mayo and cheese. I tasted the tuna and was definitely past the 3 days life it should have after opening. Obviously using it up rather than chucking it out . I had the ham egg and chips . I really wanted fish and chips but bizarrely for a pub near the coast they don’t serve it . My ham eggs and salad arrived. Then when the waitress returned with me granddaughters food my chips were tucked up in her armpit ! If your staff can’t carry 3 things safely for gods sake send them with 2 . Oh let’s not forget the Pepsi max that was flat . The granddaughters pizza was clearly a microwave one . Oh I almost forgot my ham was sliced the wrong way . With the grain not against it meaning it was virtually impossible to cut with a normal knife. The side salad was fresh and tasty , about the only thing I can say for it . We all left hungry to find something else to eat after paying nearly £60 for 4 of us and no one’s food being right . Avoid this place if you have any hopes of enjoying your food . Picture of my partners spud with a mayo sachet for scale

UPDATE.! 2 Reviews together! Went here again yesterday for a nye meal and again it was superb. I had the braised steak and onions and the meat was so well cooked and flavoursome it fell apart. ( 2 really good sized pieces of meat with onions and the best gravy. Hubby had scampi which was also very nice This little gem is an amazing place for food. My only gripe, if any was that we were in a corner which was a little dark, i would have preferred a little more light. Also we were by a very hot radiator but we asked for it to be turned down and almost immediately a very pleasant lady came along and turned it off as it was very warm. The atmosphere was lovely both times weve been and the staff friendly and helpful. Thankyou for a nice new years eve and I would definitely recommend a visit here if you're in the area ! . We went here for my birthday meal whilst staying in Scarborough. We certainly weren't disappointed. The food was superb. I had the steak pie which was mouth wateringly gorgeous and my hubby had the 3 bean chilli which he said was the best he'd had. We were seated very near to the open fire which was great as we had a storm going on outside. We thoroughly enjoyed it and would definitely recommend.

The pub itself looks great from the outside well kept with plenty of colour and looks inviting which is why we booked for dinner. Customer service was poor , the lady behind the ramp told us our table number we then had to search the place to find it with no assistance. Found it and it had someone else’s name on the card a cancellation no one could be bothered to remove or change the card. The fella behind the ramp more courteous and polite. Ordered food and to be fair the food was excellent . The braising steak was melt in your mouth tender , lovely gravy and plentiful so 10/10 for that !! Shame no one returned to see if all was ok after dropping the food off , the vegetables had been nuked in a microwave to within an inch of their life and looked unappetising and inedible. Dessert was brought to a dirty table as no one cleared the plates which was not ideal. The gateau was packet bought in and looked and tasted more like a Jaffa cake than a gateau which was a shame because was also tasteless. All in all wasn’t a very good visit , when you pay as a guest to be dined and looked after you expect it after all without paying guests you don’t have a business !! We had been here many years ago when visiting the area, so we decided to give this a go for my husband's birthday on a visit with all the family . I do wish we had gone somewhere else. The table was set with really tacky place mats, not a good start. The food was terrible, fresh vegetables said the menu.... carrots were hard, and microwaved cabbage was crinkled and chewy. Peas were the weirdest colour we have every seen (tinned, maybe) green beans, also microwaved and hard. I had cottage pie with cheese on top. It was scalding hot (also microwave) and stayed that way until I gave up on it, served in a white bowl with no gravy for the vegetables. It looked like a bowl of melted cheese. At least everything was hot, well it had been microwaved within an inch of its life. There were 6 of us and two children, all ate different things. No comments were slightly good from any of us. Service was dire. They never came to ask if everything was okay with the food. If they had we would have told them. I did want to complain, but I didn't want to cast a bad feeling over my husband's special day. We won't be going back. I have no idea how they have those great reviews for food..... unless they like badly cooked ...
