If you haven't sampled the wonderful foodie offerings from Thyme after Time Cafe then you are missing out on a gem of a restaurant cafe right on your doorstep in North Dorset. The breakfasts are to die for, cooked to perfection and to your liking, using the finest locally sourced ingredients. The cafe is a quirky, relaxing and equally exciting place to spend some time in, with friendly and helpful service. Whether you're inside the cafe in the bustling main area or in the quiet and chilled out room or outside in the courtyard under the marquee you feel like you are somewhere special. They take as much care over cooking a breakfast as any top class chef would take over a fillet steak to your liking. No Chorleywood bread here for your toast- it's from The artisan bakers at Taylors of Bruton. The eggs are laid an eggs throw away and the sausages are from a renowned local butcher. There's no bought in catering packs of anything here, just the best local produce available, which is why it's the best breakfast by far for miles and miles around. And it doesn't stop there...The lunchtime menu is full of inventive dishes, beautifully cooked, with more local ingredients, and the cakes are genius creations, often superb takes on the classics, but equally new inventions with ingredients you wouldn't have thought of combining, but they work perfectly together. They make their own jams and their own tomato sauce, chutneys etc. The other week we had the Moules and Frites....the best we have tried anywhere, including Belgos in London and several seafood restaurants on the Jurassic coast. Their salads are beautiful combinations of the best produce available, they make their own braekfast granola...Are you getting the picture? This revue is from a genuine customer, not some keyboard warrior complaining about prices, with no regard for the quality of ingredients or the ambience, or the excellent and truly friendly service, or the beautiful setting. So if you want a cheap, badly cooked bacon bap, with watery, rubbery bacon in a stodgy cheap bap then go to a transport cafe. If you want the finest, best butcher in dorset bap, cooked to perfection in a Taylors of Bruton artisan bun or a full english breakfast where every ingredient is the finest available, or a lunchtime special that makes you feel like you have been served it in a fine dining restaurant, or a slice of handmade cake that would put the Ritz to shame then book a table at the incomparable Thyme after Time...
Read moreMargot has been running her cafe from this site about 8 years,so I have been many times in i think the last 7+ years... I live around 150 miles away, and hadn't been here since Christmas... So I got down about 06.30 this morning and had table booked for 09.30..... I can not fault this cafe,I tend to have the Spire Hill Grill and I have yet to have a bad bit of any meal. With the ever increase in cost of living,I was expecting it to be more expensive than Christmas 2022...but nope, same price, and I think it is amazing quality for a very reasonable price. I was with family that live in Dorset and visit this fantastic cafe often....in fact my sister was in the day before also.
The staff are lovely...Margot (owner) is a true professional and has built her business up over the years, take look at the website, and the produce that have, home made jams etc etc,I understand they now have some of the produce selling in a local shop.
The customers in the cafe are also friendly, and seem to know each other.... I did a review on TaT before, and I'm doing this update as and edit,my original is below.
We had pot of tea and three coffees...the little milk bottles, the glass teapot are just examples of some of the things they do differently...and it all goes to show the love Margot has for food and service to her customers (friends) The head chef Eve (pink shorts ;) ) is also a little star, and has been with TaT from being tutored from as an apprentice to becoming head chef... And is a credit to Margot and to catering...
We came away with a couple of pieces of home made cakes....and will enjoy later. I know before I arrive that the experience will be all I could reasonably expect, and could only ever leave a rate of 5 star.... Anything less...I'm my view is unjust.

Brilliant cafe,I always try to visit when in area,it's a lovely place, great food, and staff...
Read moreLovely staff very kind, good service, Not wanting to knock a small local business, ive heard many great things about this place, big breakfast £16.95 is a premium breakfast price and expect farm shop quality, the menu description sounded great and fancy but was disspaointed for £16.95, the toast was cheap bread not nice cut homemade or bloomer as most high end breakfast, supposed to be slow cooked cherry tomatoes but was cheap tinned toms, bacon was well over cooked and the sausage patty was ok, mushroom was ok, cooked potatoes i was expecting sliced cooked potatoe for a high end breakfast price but was cheap out the bag frozen potatoe tots and the black pudding was ok at best. Not wanting to sound bad or knock a small local business but for £16.95 is a premium breakfast price and this definietly was not worth that price...
