Great British pub with good British food staples. I had the minced beef pie which was well made, the chips are thick cut and were lush. The star of the show was the biscoff cheesecake dessert though which left us speechless. However, though the pub scored well on the food, the excellence was really the staff namely Tracey and Jacob (an old student of mine that I didn’t know worked there) who were not just polite but treated you like a real human and not just a customer. These guys - and oh, the views - are what is worth going to that pub for again and again ! Thanks guys - it was all wonderful !

Really poor customer service from the manager. The web site said the £10 lunch menu was available until 5pm on Saturdays. She said no it's 3pm and would not budge. If I had not been in a large group that had paid a deposit I would have walked.... On a positive note the two young ladies who served us were lovely and very helpful.. The portion sizes were good - apart from the rissoto, literally a spoonful - it all came out hot and together (12 people) However I believe the majority was freezer food. You are paying for the view which was indeed fantastic. I will not be going back.

This place is a real gem. Had a warm welcome by the friendly staff team on arrival to surprise my Dad who lives locally. The pub allows self contained camper and/motorhomes to spend the night when eating in the restaurant which was just what I needed. It's a lovely atmosphere inside and my two dogs were spoilt with their own free meal which came with mine! We all enjoyed delicious food before retiring to van for a very quiet night on their level car park with stunning views over the valley. Can't wait to visit again, thanks to all for looking after us so well :)

Popped in yesterday for something to eat on our way home from a few days away. Chose from the specials board what looked like it said sirloin steak meal for 2 with bottle of wine £38.95 or something like that £38 pounds something. We thought that seemed good £19.50 each with eine so that's what we ordered. When the bill came it was for £88 pounds !! Or similar. We had a shock ! Apparently the £38.50 was each not for 2 plus a 10% service charge... no way did I want to pay a service charge with those prices. Had I realised this we would have chosen off the Normal menu which meals were about £21 . A bit pricey up to alot of places but better than what we had. The steak was nothing special as it was. The specials board was written in different colour chalk and it was not at all clear saying per person!! Will not be going to this pub again. They did say they would knock off the service charge!! Well I didn't intend paying that anyway! A lovely waitress but she did the order wrong. I asked for dauphinois potatoes and had skin on fries and first off asked for a garlic butter sauce then changed it to peppercorn but she brought garlic butter. I did however ask her to change that. I think she was new so naturally all new for her. She was very pleasant tho....so make sure you read specials board correctly as its not...

Staying I the area for a peaceful break in the small village of Pensford, with 3 local public houses to dine at. Sadly one was bookings only and was fully booked for the evening so headed to the next nearest. Once we arrive we was devastated that they only serve food on Sunday. Hungry from a long day of activities we tried our luck and called the Travellers Rest. Success they was more than happy to meet our belly rumbles! But we had to be quick as the kitchen closes in 15 minutes we was told. So we had to be quick, I asked if we could check the menu online and call back with our order. To save time and missing out on some hot food. With in 10 minutes we arrived and received a warm and friendly welcome. We order our drink and the food following shortly after. Trio of pork sausage on a bed of mash with cabbage and perfectly cooked half carrots with onion gravy which was delicious. My better half had a creamy chicken tagliatelle which was pleasing to the eye and the pallet. A side of pizza garlic bread and I was taken back as it was amazing and full of flavour. Dog friendly and even had dog treats behind the bar. Wonderful meal and fantastic and warm service, thank you to the team at Travellers rest for going...

Had a fantastic roast dinner on Sunday, we were a big party with small children included and the staff were amazing, very friendly, accommodating and great with the kids, they also brought out the kids meals first which I thought was great so they could go on eating whilst ours came out, small little things like that help a lot with kids. The food was incredible hats off the chef and kitchen staff! the puddings were gorgeous too and with a great selection! We will most definitely be going back such a warm welcoming pub every one we dealt with was so lovely and accommodating and helpful really fantastic pub all round 10/10 oh and fantastic view in the conservatory while we...
