Tried this place for drinks and dinner recently whilst staying in Cookham. Only a small group of locals in the bar when arrived. Ordered a drink and took a look at the menu. It’s a smallish pub with seating in the front bar area, a small restaurant area to the back and then more seating in a decked area outside beyond which is a very nice garden space. I chose a sea bass fillet on a seafood risotto which was on the specials menu. My food was served promptly after ordering and the presentation was very good. Great choice of dinner, sea bass was a generous sized fillet, meaty and perfectly cooked. The risotto was also perfect, al dente texture, delicately flavoured and complimented the fish beautifully. It was absolutely delicious. This is a wonderful pub and restaurant, very good friendly service, fabulous food, great drinks and in a wonderful setting.

We went to Uncle Tom's Cabin to try their Sunday Roast and I have to say, it's one of the best I've ever had. The new chef had prepared some amazing starters, the kids loved their dishes, it's rare for mine to finish their plates but they were completely clean at the end! The roast meats were beautifully and evenly cooked, roast potatoes crispy and a mix of traditional veg and a puree was really nice. To top it off the puddings were satisfying. We will be returning to try the regular menu soon too!

We visited Uncle Tom's cabin many times in our two week stay in Cookham. I think it was the perfect definition of a comfy, friendly local pub. Good beers on tap, better-than-average pub food, and super friendly staff. It was super convenient at less than a 5 minute walk from our place but I'd still go back next time we're in town even if it means a longer trip!

Really disappointing. After reading the positive reviews, my girlfriend and I visited here on - Saturday 26 February - while staying locally.

At 8pm, the restaurant was nearly empty and so lacked atmosphere. Not the establishment’s fault….

Our shared squid starter was lovely

I ordered the (expensive at £24) rump steak to be cooked medium-rare. It arrived medium-well done. My girlfriend had linguine - which she enjoyed - but it went cold quickly. During the entire time we were eating, no member of staff asked if we were enjoying our food. I’d have raised these issues if so. We only the food because we were hungry.

We declined dessert but my girlfriend requested a Tia Maria coffee…. Who knew this would be such a challenging request?! Firstly, she was brought a cold shot of coffee liqueur. Then a luke-warm coffee mixed with liqueur served in a wine glass!

Even when paying the bill, the (I assume) manager didn’t even ask if we enjoyed our food. Obviously, no tip left.

Overall: lovely place, average food, very...

lovely little pub, very cosy and a great atmosphere. The menu however was very limited with only 4 starters on the menu, 1 of which was 'off' the menu and 4 mains. Not being a Burger person or really knowing what celeriac fondants were I opted for the fish and chips. The fish was really beautifully cooked but the pea puree was luke warm and the chips were thin (McDonalds style) and not chunky as you would expect. A choice of only 3 desserts, 1 of which was Baron Bigod and had the description of Pear/Hazelnut/Crisp bread....who knows what that one was?? I skipped dessert... I think better descriptions against each item would be good plus maybe some allergy or dietary information on the menu would also be beneficial. The meal overall was okay but with such a limited menu I cant see that there would enough choice to temp...
