Va Bene Bar & Ristorante Italian — Restaurant in England

Va Bene have always been the go to restaurant for my family and I when I travel up from Bristol. We have had quite a few amazing experiences here, so it makes me quite sad to write this review.

Between Christmas and New Year we visited Va Bene and the meal was lovely, couldn't fault the service and the Salmon pasta I had was brilliant. I had not been unwell prior to go to Va Bene.

However after to short walk home I very quickly realised I had horrible food poisoning. Once the food was out of my system I was fine.

After I went back to Bristol, my family went to enquire about this with the staff at Va Bene, where they blamed my illness on a sickness bug and had been a bit standoffish. However my family were reimbursed £13 in cash for the meal.

I feel it is important to post this for transparency, as I know Va Bene are an amazing business and we have had so many wonderful experiences, but due to the way this had been handled we aren't very keen to go...

This Italian was recommended to us. We turned up at 7:30 on a Wednesday evening without booking. There was plenty of space and staff; they were not busy.

The table was ready with a clean, starched tablecloth, the decor was lovely as was the background music.

The full menu was excellent as was the wine and drinks menu. All very reasonably priced.

The service was quick and the food plentiful and really tasty. It was all very hot and beautifully presented. The sea bass was perfectly cooked with lovely sauces.

We were very impressed. This place should be stacked out with customers taking advantage of this wonderful restaurant charging much less than the quality should attract.

We are visitors to the area and unlikely we will return. Those who live locally would do well to sample this cuisine while you can. The owners, chef and staff deserve to be run off their feet with the superb...

It's absolutely brilliant. Beautiful place, really delicious food, well spaced out, great atmosphere. Table layed out correctly. Clean cloth. Great backgeound music, perfect volume.

The only thing that lets this down is the table service. The front of house staff are poorly trained, different staff attending to the table which caused confusion between them, 2 of the waiting staff stretched across the table to collect the dirty plates whilst holding the collected plates close to the faces of those sat at the table. They were quiet and mumbled, so couldn't hear or understand what they were saying.

But wow, the food is seriously amazing. Will definitely return, and...
