Vikings — Restaurant in England

We are quite locals and we have visited this pub a handful of times now. I always put myself in the shoes of the waiters/bar staff/ kitchen stuff and most of the time I understand the hard work they do. But the last 2-3 times we’ve been there, the bar staff has been so so rude, disrespectful and very very unfriendly. And from a person who used to work in this field, that’s not how you keep your customers. Me and my partner we went there for a pint today. We both love Birra Moretti, but this time my partner noticed that they were doing Peroni on draft. If you’re around this area, you probably know not too many pubs have this beer on draft ( or probably we don’t go to enough pubs to notice it! 😅). But anyway, while we was waiting to be served, he got himself very excited to give this beer a try. But also not sure if he would like it. So we asked if he can try it, and the answer back was a definite no but they offered half of pint straight away. Another young-ish blonde lady came around saying very rudely that would have to go down as waste if we only want to try it and she said a NO very loud-ish and giving us a look like we was asking for free cases of beer or something like that. I am wandering, how I am supposed to know if I like something if I haven’t tried it before? And also, when they over fill a glass of beer, and all that beer is tripping over, is that not classed as wastage? We genuinely just wanted let’s say a shot of that beer, to see if we like it and it was no need of the rudeness, snatching, evil looks or whatsoever… we did need up having two pints, but that would definitely not happen again, for sure...

We have been to this pub around 3 times now, we travel from Leeds to see my mum who is a care home there she has dementia. Firstly we couldn’t use the blue light code was told with it been Easter Sunday they didn’t use them. We then ordered and went and sat down our food came 10 minutes later my mums food was barely warm but don’t like a fuss, I ordered a chicken and bacon wrap that came in a folded tortilla open withe the 2 small pieces of chicken bacon and a little salad with 2 slices of barely melted cheese in the pouch. The tortilla was crispy and hard just on the side where the filling was. I started to tell my family it was disgusting when a man on another table piped up we can change it if you’re not happy my sister said no it’s fine. Then a young man from behind the bar came out and asked if everything was ok I explained and the young lad looked at the man on the other table and went over where they started to talk quietly to each other. With my mum been like she is we didn’t want her upset so said everything was ok. I then proceeded to make the wrap myself and in biting it realised it was like warm probably from the grill, to say I only ate half was and went on to each my chips to find again these were cold and crunchy inside obviously not cooked properly again I left majority of them. Great bar spot on food. Run like a Witherspoons pub but much much better. Love the place.

5th June 2021 update. Just been back and I know it's social distancing and things are happening much slower but tonight was beyond a joke. It wasn't busy in the large dining area we were the only table (19) and it took forever to get served, we had to go find a waiter, it took over 30 minutes to get 2 Carlings and 2 cokes, one straight one with ice and a slice. In just under an hour the food arrived, two burger large plates with steak and wings, a smoking jack burger with mucky chip and a fish, chips and mushy peas. Unfortunately, we had to send one meal back to add the sauce to the chips! At this time we ordered another 2 Carling's and a straight coke and a coke with ice and a slice, the waiter was rushing away and I slowed him down and repeated the drinks order, he laughed and left. As expected when the drinks arrived there was 2 Carling and a straight coke, we asked about the other coke with ice and a slice and the lady apologise and said she would sort it. We completed our meals and was ready to pay before the coke finally arrived.

The food was fine but there was no salt or pepper on the table and only enough sauce and dressings for one person. The staff were lost! Headless chickens! They looked stressed.
