My husband and I stayed here over the weekend. It's a place we have passed over the years but never stayed.|What a joy it was. As a bit of a late decision I phoned and was greeted by Lydia who was lovely. She took my booking and reserved us a table for evening dining.|We arrived on Saturday had a drink and shared a little lunch - super. Having then been showed to a very cosy clean room with a fantastic comfy super king sized bed and modern bathroom we relaxed to enjoy our stay.|We had reserved our table and when we arrived in the bar for pre-dinner drinks we were very pleasantly surprised just how busy and buzzing it was. The restaurant areas and bar were full. The food obviously is the draw to this super place - we were not disappointed - it was fantastic! (What pleased both my husband and I was the fact that nobody seemed to be turned away). We ate a fabulous meal, very well presented, superbly cooked and very generous 'Yorkshire' portions.|Breakfast again was super. Freshly cooked and well presented.|The White Horse only has three letting bedrooms so the reputation of this lovely village pub is it's wonderful food. |We certainly will stay here again and I cannot speak highly enough of the lovely young couple who run it along with their team. Ali and Lydia thank you for making our short stay one...
Read moreWe went to The White Horse Inn by chance and are ever so glad we did. We were camping nearby for the weekend and happened across The White Horse Inn on a drive around the area. We called in without a reservation and were greeted by a friendly and helpful member of staff who showed us to an empty table. The choice of ale/drink was good, surpassed by the level of service from all staff who we interacted with. Family friendly, accommodating our 10 and 1 year old with myself and my partner. We all had a a slap up meal, with all of us finishing off our meals of choice. The food came piping hot and as described. My partner and myself both chose a special for our main and my word, the belly pork was unbelievable. 5 stars from me for everything. Even the locals were friendly, welcoming and happy to have a chat. We will be returning and would recommend stopping in for a pint or a meal if...
Read moreThis is an amazing village pub with roaring fires and lovely food. We stayed 2 nights and ate in the pub both nights. Very good value for the quality. The locally brewed Helmsley pale ale was just £3.90 a pint with some great pub grub - Fish & Chips with tartar sauce £14.95 or pie and chips the same. I had the F&C's the first night and the turkey ballotine with creamed Brussel sprouts and fondant potato the second night. High end master chef productions and the puddings were fab - the custard tart (crème Brule) style with ginger ice cream was a knock out and only £7.95. This is a gem of a place in a lovely setting. Andy and Dawn the owners are amazing and Albert who works at the bar cant do enough to make the guest experience wonderful. Plus all the locals are super friendly and all dogs are...
