This is a bit of a mixed review! I would go back and stay again, it is a friendly and clean pub with helpful staff, good breakfast with excellent bacon! ||Awful weak coffee! There is an issue that drinks are made from a machine that produces luke warm drinks .. they apparently don’t have a kettle! |However the guy was very kind and got me some hot milk for my coffee. Simple improvement needed here though .. preferably cafetières and teapots! |my husband had had tea with a tea bag in hot unboiled water.| We didn’t eat there but it was popular and food looked OK. ||The bedroom was well furnished with new furniture and comfortable but the decoration let it down , chipped paint and flaking wallpaper on ceiling . In Room2 there is a bath .. in the room .. it has a shower attachment .. we didn’t use it cos we were terrified of flooding floor and we both like to bathe/shower in private. Because of a mixup on their part of our arrival date we got an upgrade to this room .. room 2 but I wouldn’t have chosen it without en-suite shower. We talked to other guests who had similar thoughts.. just a bit more care and it could be a fabulous place. They hadn’t had request about room addressed and they despaired...

Stayed at The White Swan for me night before my wedding the next day. Needed something easy and inexpensive for me and my groomsmen. When we stayed luckily we were the only guests so my groomsmen bursting in on my room at 1am after they had been next door on the jagers didn't disturb any other guests. The pub was bouncing on the Friday evening and it was hard to get a table but eventually we did and the food and beer was delicious. The steak pie was beautiful with a suet pastry topping. Breakfast was provided and I enjoyed it however everything had been done in a frying pan including the toast. The room was fine and the bed comfy. Bathroom was clean and everything worked even though it was a bit odd that the sink was in the room rather than the bathroom but it is an old building. It is an old building and is in the middle of a refurbishment so it has lots of creaks and quirks but the owners have no preconceptions of what this place is. If you need lodgings and don't want to be ripped off this place is ideal. Also if you will need to go out after midnight get the code from the owner as I managed to get trapped outside when I took my dog for...

Lovely pub and friendly staff but food a bit suspect

Can’t fault staff as they were very pleasant and attentive, pub smart enough inside but the issue lies with the food we were served. I had the beef madras at about 1pm yesterday and haven’t stopped going to the toilet for a liquid number 2 coupled with a delightful stomach ache as I write this nearly 24 hours later. Another member of our party asked to have their Sunday dinner warmed up as it was tepid (must say my madras wasn’t piping hot either). Several members of our party noted that the beef appeared to be sliced and out of a packet rather than from a joint as you’d expect from a Sunday dinner, the mash also appeared to be the type made from a powder and again not the proper mash you’d expect from a Sunday dinner you’re paying £14 odd for. Frozen Yorkie pud also rather than a home made one.

If I didn’t have the trots I wouldn’t have bothered leaving a negative review but as it’s ruined the end of my Easter weekend I felt it was needed.

Can’t speak for the rest of the menu and I don’t mean to tarnish the place but felt I had to leave...

I booked six days here in October. The communication to secure my booking from Jade was friendly and efficient, nothing was too much trouble, unfortunately I didn't get to meet her as she was away. I had a double room for the first 5 days and a single for the last night. The double room had very good facilities, tea, coffee, bottled water, a large TV and a comfortable bed, both the room and bathroom were very clean. The single room was adequate for the one night. Hannah cooked and served my breakfast most days, every day it was served, piping hot, lightening fast, and was very tasty (especially the mushrooms) the choices were very good. On the Saturday we had a big family party in the large back room, with a bar. The food was excellent and so were all the staff, they were friendly, helpful and super efficient. All in all, I had a great stay, thanks to the whole team, they run this B and B like clockwork. I hope they receive the praise they deserve from the Management 😊 🙏. I would definitely stay here again.

Great little pub! We made plans to attend at an other well reviewed pub for tea, but fortunately on this occasion that place was closed due to covid so we had to make last minute plan changes and we came across this diamond. I called the pub just as we were nearby and then managed and get us a table. We were positioned in the side room to which was quite, I foresee this was because we're were last minute plans but we had no issue at all with it. We had a table of 5 and all of us throughly enjoyed the homemade food. From massive gammon steaks to lasagne and a massive burger all was well received, fresh, hot and tasty! We even finished off with perfect homemade puddings. A real gem of a place and will visit again should we be near by. Well worth a visit!

Lovely place to stay. I've been here three times now. Staff are awesome. Breakfast is to be tried as it will not disappoint. Local village is well equipped takeaways, coop and local store, hardware store and a few pubs. It's always been a nice visit on all my occasions. About ten minutes drive to Filey. Hunmanby gap is worth a look. Just check tide times. Fantastic beaches nearby
