I don’t normally leave reviews, but after the appalling experience we had at The Woodman in Longthorpe, I felt it was necessary. My sister, friend and I visited to celebrate the end of her exams, but the entire evening was ruined by unbelievably rude and dismissive staff.

We waited around 25–30 minutes for our food, and when my friend politely went to check on it at the bar, she was met with a dismissive response from a woman who said, “I don’t have a clue what goes on in the kitchen, I just work at the front.” No apology, no attempt to help – just pure attitude.

Then, when our drinks finally came, the same woman told us we needed ID to be served soft drinks and food. I explained I was 18 and had photo ID on my phone, but was basically told to “go home and get it” or leave. Her tone was incredibly aggressive, rude, and completely uncalled for. We were shocked – I’ve never been spoken to like that in any restaurant or pub.

We asked about the food we had already paid for, and were bluntly told we could “get a refund,” with no care or clarity about how or when that would happen. When I approached the tills to ask for help, I was completely ignored and dismissed again. When I asked for the woman’s name or to speak to a manager, I was told they weren’t going to tell us anything.

I’ve since tried to call the venue several times to discuss the situation privately and to confirm the refund, but have not been able to speak to anyone – let alone a manager. No one seems to care.

Overall, it was an absolutely shocking experience from start to finish. The staff were rude, unhelpful, and entirely unprofessional. I would strongly advise anyone considering a visit to avoid this...

So disappointed with the service from one of the so called managers. We used to attend this pub regularly, as the food was very nice for pub food at a reasonable price. We used to be regulars, that went most weekends to watch the F1 usually about 6 of us, which we always booked the same table and requested the F1 to be put on that tv as they have various TV’s for other sporting events. This one weekend it was a manager I hadn’t seen before but she turned off our tv to put the football on for some Everton fans that clearly weren’t locals or regulars. I wouldn’t have been bothered if I didn’t specifically book this table and requested to be able to watch the F1 on that TV, or if they did this before we spent hundreds of pounds on food and drinks so we could still have the option to spend our money elsewhere that will accommodate for our needs. When I explained we booked this table and requested will the F1 be on before attending, she decided to then just go back and forth with me and rather than finding a resolution was just adamant to argue with me and my friends and family. Even after I said don’t worry about it we’re getting nowhere she persisted to come back to our table and start arguing with me again about it. At this point we up and left and haven’t returned since. Extremely disappointed as some disgusting service has let down a...

Called in here on Friday 4th October. Have just read some bad reviews regarding food but, as we only called in for a drink and bowl of chips, cannot comment. The Chips were good. Loved the pub and its location. First time we have been. We stay in our motorhome at Ferry Meadows and normally bike to The Boathouse but the area was flooded. One of the wardens recommended The Woodman and so accessible from the park. Will definitely visit again. Sat in conservatory overlooking golf course. Nice outdoor seating area when weather good. Also, dog friendly. UPDATE: called in here today, 11th June. Had booked a table for 2pm, staying at Ferry Meadows, but not at all busy, mostly golfers just having a pint. Food ok, my partner was not enamoured with his fish which was a tail end. Only one lady behind bar who had to serve drinks, take orders and serve at tables 😲. Whole area was dirty, floor, table and chairs. I pointed it out to a chap who was working. “Oh, it’s our cleaner”. “Well get another one” I said. “Oh we have to have the company cleaner”. Could be a great pub, good location but if the surroundings that you can see are dirty, what goes on behind the scenes. Outside, lovely location overlooking the golf course, was unkempt, dilapidated in places. What is happening to...

Staff friendly, good selection of food choices and beers etc. But Sunday roasts are a bit bland and small portion sizes. I had the three roast meat selection which was a slice of turkey, slice of pork and thought I was getting a slice of beef or something but the other piece of meat was a small chipolata sausage! Came with a couple of spoonfuls of mash, one small piece of brocoli, half a chopped carrot and a spoonful of cabbage plus a large dry Yorkshire pud, oh yeh and 4 small roast potatoes, so glad I ordered the side dish of roast potatoes as well. On the other hand my wife had the special cod and chips (Not to be confused with cheaper version of the same cod and chips) and she got scampi, peas, 2 rounds of bread and butter average size piece of cod and a lot of chips, her portion wasb actually for an adult!! Would go back, but would not choose anything from Sunday Roast meal choices. Veg is the cheapest part of most meals and it's the bit they scrimp on, makes no sense.

Staying at the Holiday Inn down the road this was the only place we could walk to for dinner. Had a couple of drinks first and the bar staff were very friendly even though clearly very busy with only one person behind the bar. Then the food arrived. It was appalling and I don’t mean that in an exaggerated way. I don’t know if I’ve ever had worse chicken fingers but the ratio of coating to chicken was 90-10 in favour of the coating. My wife’s flat bread was overcooked chicken with a few other ingredients, it tasted awful apparently. It’s a shame the food was so bad when the staff were so nice … sacking the ‘chef’ would be a good start.
