I don't normally write reviews, but I had very disappointing experience here on NYE. I went with my three year old son to meet some friends for lunch on New Years Eve. We got there just after 1 pm and they had stopped taking orders for food because they had a backlog. This in itself is perfectly sensible, however, the pub was not able to provide anything for my 3 year old. The lady at the bar was rude and refused to even entertain the idea of considering any options! It wasn't like they'd run out of food. I was happy to go without... However, it's difficult to tell a 3 year old he can't have lunch because the bar staff are miserable! Poor service, poor attitude and won't be rushing...

This was however the first visit back in over 13 years since I moved away, but I am happy to say nothing much has changed. It is still every bit as charming and quaint as I remembered it. Dog friendly, roaring fire, no slot machines, and a wall full of gorgeous books. They take card now and there is parking right outside.
