Passing by Ongar, saw this modern looking café on my way so decided to stop by for my morning coffee. Was expecting better tbh. Coffee wasn't too bad perhaps not hot enough, not a problem though but food was poor quality looking and tasting and not much choice. This is new to us and from the look of things it's fairly new on the high street. I had hoped for some coffee knowledge, but the server (I will not call him a Barista) did not know what a light roast coffee is.

I then asked for a filter coffee and he made me espresso with added hot water.

Pretty poor from a place which markets itself as a premium coffee shop.

The server was friendly enough, and the espresso was ok, but over extracted slightly. Having said that the coffee seems to be of higher than average quality, with a nice acidity and fruity undertones.

With a quality bean such as this, it needs staff who know what they are doing.or at least know a little...
