Only worth going when discounts are offered due to the high end prices for a standard pub. Its cheaper and nicer at the nearby Bulls Head. They don't have enough staff to cope at discount times. And they get flustered easily - got a right bit of lip when I suggested that an inoperative till area should have a sign to say that its not in use.😕 Expect over 30 minutes wait for non-carvery food. Choice of a few beers, but needs to 'up the game' with cask ales, especially considering the brewery that owns them. Reasonably clean and tidy with good service, but starting to look a bit tatty around the edges now. Decent food but pricey beer. Needs more veggie or vegan options on main meals. Good for everyone from young families to couples, to discerning pensioners. Dog friendly. Perfectly located - bus stop outside and plenty of parking. Just basically need to get their act together.

Visited on a Saturday lunch time for a quick bite to eat. Did wait over 30 minutes for non-carvery items: 2 Philly cheese steak sandwiches. Every previous visit has been very good with the carvery and other menu items, especially as a coeliac I appreciate the variety of the gluten free menu. However today, the steak sandwich was inedible, fatty and the cheese sauce has curdled. Given the amazing selection and taste of carvery meats this was very disappointing to see that they could not make a basic steak sandwich, which also arrived cold. Bar staff were friendly and helpful but the food selection was very disappointing for something so basic. Kitchen staff really need to focus on non-carvery menu items and wait times. Will be finding a new local pub with a gluten free selection.

What a dreadful meal from the start. 4.30 pm hardly anyone in there all veg covered over once uncovered it was rock hard stuffing, dried up carrots, rock hard roast potatoes and mash with a skin on , brown cabbage (which my hubby put on his plate to my disgust, but he never ate it) looks like it’s been sat under the lights all day when I asked what’s happened to that he said yeah it’s been busy all day I’ve been run of my feet?? I asked for fresh cabbage and then fresh stuffing to be told it would be 15min? Which I replied well that’s no good is it? 5min later was bought over fresh cabbage and fresh stuffing but was still a very disappointing meal. The attitude of the restaurant manager was appalling no apology or anything … picture of the rank food being served !! AVOID

Terrible waiting times and a lack of forethought and information. Popped in here to get some food, asked for a table for two and were told it would be a 15min wait. Not a problem, we went to get some drinks and waited in the bar until we were taken to our table. Once we got to the restaurant section we were told our table number before the waitress left. We had seen there was a carvery and tried to look for prices and information on the menu, but only saw normal meals and a info box that just said "ask us about our carvery". We joined the queue for the carvery and, after 10 minutes of waiting, reached the front to be told we needed to purchase a carvery ticket from the bar. So we then joined the queue at the bar. We stood there for 30 minutes without the queue barely budging at all! The service behind the bar was just awful, particularly at the till at which we were waiting. When we finally got our ticket and went to the carvery, we were pretty disappointed by the veg on offer. There were peas, carrots, runner beans, red cabbage, cauliflower cheese, mash and roast potatoes. Well both the carrots and red cabbage were over cooked, dry and tasteless and the roast potatoes were nothing to be thrilled about either. The meat at least was good, but the Yorkshire puddings were flat, doughy, under cooked and tasted more like pancake batter than yorkshire pudding. After such a long wait to finally get our food it just didn't seem worth it at all. The worst part was that non of the staff had told us how and where we could order the food from. The lack of organisation from the staff made everything run ridiculously slowly and many other guests in the queues with us were also becoming incredibly unhappy. It felt like there was hardly any care or thought put into their customer service and it made us feel totally put off. The same could be said for the interior of the pub too. While the bar area was quite nice, the section of the restaurant we were sat in had chairs strewn everywhere, making movement quite difficult although the staff didn't seem to care, and all the fittings were bashed, dirty and sorry looking. All in all the staff were unhelpful, the waiting times a joke, the food was disappointing and the surroundings were run down. I would not recommend this...

So upon arriving before i had even gotten out my car i was met with my first issue. I may have missed additional disabled parking bays but I could only find 2 on site. Neither of which are appropriate for disabled users. When I parked in the space my boot and left side of my car were tight against the shrubbery leaving me with no way at all to retrieve my wheelchair from the boot or let passengers out. This is really disappointing in this day and age, it is a legal requirement to supply appropriate disabled bays in your carpark. If i hadnt been as hungry as i was when i arrived i would likely of given up and found an alternative. Upon entering there were no clear instructions as to weather you just grabbed a seat or waited to be seated, eventually i asked customer as your staff were all occupied who told me it was a grab a table and order at the bar situation. I discovered when i got a table i could order via QR code a big bonus for myself as the bar would be to high for me in my chair to successfully talk to staff members. However the venue itself is very level and pretty accessible, level floors with thin carpet or hard floors making it easy to get around. There are a few areas that are up some small stairs but there is plenty of accessible seating and tables that can accommodate a wheelchair user. I ordered food and a drink upon arriving, now perhaps because im use to weatherspoons i expect a fast rate of service but i was sat for 30 mins before food arrive only to be informed “its quicker at the bar” not everyone can stand in a que and wait. And since i could not access my wheel chair there was no way at all i could que and order at the bar. Additionally no drink as “it wasn't on the ticket that came through” so i got that nearly 30 mins after the order went in.

The food itself was lovely tho the onions rings were a little watery.

Fair to say if they learnt to make the digital ordering system work quickly and efficiently they would have a good pub. But you do need to upgrade you disabled bays especially as your clients appear to be retired folk and families. I hope i get the opportunity to visit again and see if improvements on these...

Apart from the guy checking us in, who was great, the experience was dire. Painfully slow ordering system with customers getting impatient and irate. Why don’t you take drink and food orders separately instead of having to wait to order food while multiple drink orders are seen to? Guy taking orders mumbled so we couldn’t understand him and didn’t seem to know what he was doing. Then the real farce started. Two people had their mains delivered to be told their starters were about to be brought out?!!! What the? The clue is in the name…starter! They sent their mains back to come after they had eaten their starter. They were obviously just kept warm somewhere, including the knife that was left in the plate which was too hot to handle. My friend couldn’t eat her dried out hunters chicken. I asked about my starter when theirs arrived, the waitress went to check and because it had been put through 10 minutes after theirs it would come in 10 minutes. Seriously, they don’t coordinate table orders? I had to say shouldn’t there be some garlic mayonnaise with mine when it arrived like my friend had with hers and had to wait for that. So the people not having starters went to get their carvery meals rather than wait any longer. I had a carvery too, eventually. I didn’t enjoy it at all and despite not taking a large amount of veg, couldn’t eat it all as it was simply not good. The carrots were ok, but the Yorkshires and both types of potatoes were awful. We did laugh about the whole experience but we won’t...
