I tell you what pal i had a little trip out to the big smoke today........it's been a while since I last frequented these parts and the carnival was a great success today. We didnt arrive till 1pm ish and just missed the parade but heard really good things about how good the floats were decorated and apparently there was one bloke in the band who really stood out for his drum banging. Think he was the one with the cheesy smile and turkey teeth! 1st stop was the ode long eaton rugby club where we grabbed a pint of lager shandy and pint of pepsi from the pop up bar outside. We then walked through the fairground which was absolutely banging and heaving with folk. There was one ride i noticed we walked past, my god "the king of swing" it was called, Jesus it made me want to be sick just looking at it! We then picked a lovely little spot by the erewash sounds radio ring and watched the amazing Dako flying angels in action. These guys were terrific trampolineists and can see them being on BGT very soon! The heavens then opened and a massive downpour sent us into one of the tents where a lady was blasting out some tunes from the 70s 80s and 90s on the stage. To be fair she was a very good ageing singer and I was impressed with her and I bet she enjoyed the rain as the attendance in the tent went up by 200 people! Final visit was the ode loos in the rugby club and this place has come on leaps and bounds since I was last down here many many moons ago. Even the toilets were in a decent condition considering the blasting they had taken from today's event and the masses of local long eaton ites! All in all a lovely afternoon, keep up the good work you long...
Read moreWest Park in Long Eaton is a real gem! It's a brilliant space for the whole family, with plenty of room for children to run around and play safely.
The walking paths are great – really well-maintained and perfect for either a gentle stroll or a proper run. It's also an excellent spot to walk the dog, with lots of different paths and open areas for them to explore.
The park itself is incredibly green, with lots of mature trees and well-kept lawns, making it a lovely place to be. It's really convenient having accessible toilets and cafés nearby for a break or a bite to eat – that's a big plus.
What makes West Park particularly special is the lovely little stream that runs through it. The gentle sound of the running water is incredibly relaxing – perfect for sitting on a bench, reading a book, or just unwinding and enjoying the peaceful surroundings.
I'd thoroughly recommend a visit to West Park to anyone looking for a pleasant place to relax, get some exercise, or spend quality time with family and friends...
Read moreNice park to walk around, with the option of stopping off to use the exercise equipment, dotted around the entire pavement. Unfortunately, the addition of cyclists being allowed on half the path, spoils the enjoyment of walking with the dogs and children and they do pass at some speed. Whilst the paths are well maintained, it is sad to see so many of the old trees being removed and the new ones not being adequately protected from the vandals that frequent the area. The addition of the cafe was a welcome thing to have, but it is seasonal opening, so in winter time there is no welcoming drink to look forward too. Lots of activities for sport, football, rugby, cricket and tennis, including a nice play area for the young children. The outdoor bowls green is still there, but the golf and croquet area...
