Lock House Tea Rooms — Restaurant in Erewash

The tea rooms on the look always looks inviting I have stood and pass this place 1000s times over the years. I was in the area on a different matter so I thought I pop in and try the food, Iam always a bit wary of dog friendly places but nothing against them, As we walked in the smell wasn’t the best, we asked is the place open, reply we can be 😟,then told got to go soon move my car, a yes or no would have been the correct answer, so we sat down ordered the two soups of the day which day it was made might be up for debate, as we waited the place really didn’t look feel smell clean, out soup came which was as bland as possible could be, 5 mins later we had to ask for our bread roll, so service was slack we was the only two people in place, Overall wasn’t the best experience and for what we had it was expensive...

Decided to have breakfast here this morning, it was quaint and picturesque... so thought would be lovely, pot of tea ordered by my husband and 2 sausage and egg cobs, ... when they came we were terribly dissatisfied, one sausage that was too small for the bread and the egg it was more like having a fried egg sandwich, the egg was an extra 75p which is OK I guess but £4.35 for one sausage 1 egg in a breadcake did not feel like good value for money. Can get a dozen sausage for less than that. Queried the waitress and she just said that's how we do it 🤨 not sorry about your disappointment or anything, seamed a little rude a response if you ask me. Safe to say we won't...

I've been to this cafe a few times when visiting Attenborough nature reserve , I've noticed the service has never been great but yesterday was a shocking experience! Me & 2 friends put an order through individually for tea & cake , the guy serving didn't know any of the prices of the cake , & I stood waiting for my tea & cake for 25 minutes! Others in the queue behind me going past me to get there's , I kept waiting patiently , until my friend went to see them & to see what was happening? They'd missed my order & didn't even apologise! Shocking customer service I won't be returning! Anyone visiting Attenborough nature reserve I'd stick with using the visitor centre...
