Nice surroudings near the river Trent and canal. The Inn itself is rather run down and needs a face lift in and out. We stopped here for lunch, which was resonably priced, having cycled down the canal tow path from Ilkeston. Here again for the second time. It is not a busy day but we are still waiting for a Baguette after 40 minutes. While waiting I'm astonished at the bad, strong language coming from the bar staff especially when a small child is nearby. They do let dogs inside. Seating area wants a really good clean don't wear white clothing

Excellent Sunday lunch. Great location at Trent Lock on the Erewash canal. Quirky, interesting historic pub, welcoming friendly staff. Real ales, great value, generous proportioned food, choice of pork, beef, lamb or vegetarian. Well worth a visit. If you have mobility needs, check ahead, regular parking is a short walk away, but it is possible to drop off outside. The pub is accessible via a ramp.

What a pub! Excellent service, great range of drinks. Always welcoming staff with great banter. Great ales and Always something new to try. Cider is hansom! The food is also really good. Great quality ingredients. All round a cracking pub, oh and super dog friendly, welcomed inside aswell as out!

Im english my partner is polish yesterday we called here my partner ordered some basic food chicken nuggets and fries for her lad she also ordered a second portion of fries/chips when the food arrived a dish of horrible looking fat things turned up with skin all over them looking like they had been cooked 6 times! We had a quiet word and was told that the place does various types of chips we didn't order of any menu by the way as chips are chips surly. Anyway my partner decided to leave the big fat things send them back no refund asked for and pay again for what she wanted we then had a young lady come to us 3 times asking if she has paid which my partner said yes on card I was then accused by the landlady of shouting at such member of staff id like to see that on any cctv as it didn't happen to top it off then the landlady took it up on her self to come outside which only seemed to be to pick an argument with my partner saying you said this and that when ordering food I found this very unprofessional to be honest we are talking about a bowl of fries/chips not a big steak dinner! The landlady did however offer a refund on the unwanted food at the end even though we didn't ask for it overall not a very nice experience I've been in there many times on bikerides etc thats why I wanted to bring my partner yesterday who's never been. Safe to say we won't be returning...

Stopped in at the Steamboat on our bikes for Sunday lunch and were lucky to get a table outside as it was very busy. We ordered the veggie nut roast Sunday lunch and were very pleased with our choice. Green beans, carrots, cabbage, mashed potatoes, roast potato, mini corn on the cob, Yorkshire pudding and a tasty nut roast with vegetarian gravy. Everything was well cooked, well presented and very tasty. We also had a couple of pints of an American style pale ale from a good choice of craft beers. Service was friendly and efficient despite the demand on the staff and there was good management in terms of social distancing etc. Our only problem was that we found the telephone number on the website unobtainable but then forgot to ask about this before leaving. Hopefully we'll be lucky enough to find a table when we go back, as we definitely will, in order to try some if the tasty sounding specials on the blackboard. Well done to everyone at the Steamboat. A really good pub like this is hard to...

Hi..sorry was not happy with the way your running outside service today...4 tables came in after us and sat on higher deck, we was next to door to bar, after wed sat 10 minutes lady went on top deck and served them as she passed us I made her aware we was here long before them, she said shed be back when she had served them, we wanted a latte, britvic orange and lemonade bag plain crisps..10 mins later she took order,.20mins after taking order she came and said not got any latte so we asked for cappuccino, l5 mins later order came..got no plain crisps and got orange cordial in lemonade...didnt complain about orange because I thought we would have to wait longer...think it should have been ticket service because they didnt no who came first...thing is you wasnt even serving food...god knows how long the wait would have been...think we will wait till normal service resumes before we...
