We went for a carvery tonight to be told they had run out of meat and the carvery is usually only on until 6. Nowhere on the website, on the menu or as you enter does it state it is only on until 6, if it did we would have gone to Bartlewood. We were not given a menu on arrival, not given cutlery and not given condiments, we had to ask for all of these. So ok in the end we ordered off the menu. This took over 45 minutes to arrive (no prior communication to advice of the long wait) and with a smallest amount of mash on it. I was advised that this is portion control so if your hungry donât order of food the menu. I had asked for a Yorkshire pudding seeing as I wanted the carvery and couldnât have it. When the meal eventually came out minus the Yorkshire Pudding i asked the person that brought the food to see where it was, 5 minutes later I went to the bar to see if it was coming or if they didnât have one etc but she just said sheâs hadnât asked the kitchen. I asked to speak to the manager, 10 minutes later I went to the bar again and the bar staff had not asked the manager to come to speak to me. By this point my food is cold and the person I was with ate alone. After being at work for nearly 12 hours the whole point is to go out for a nice meal with good service, thatâs definitely did not happen this evening. Yes i was offered an alternative but why would I take that and wait yet again and the person I was with would be finished. They took the meal back (never got a Yorkshire) and I got my money back for it but it has ruined what should have been a nice evening having a meal together. I have to now go and get something to eat from the shop for...

We stood waiting to be served for 10 min, a girl from the bar even walked passed us twice with desserts & didn't alert the kitchen before she went out for a vape or something, another, switched on, lady from bar finally asked if they knew we were waiting & went into the kitchen for us. The whole carvery was terrible, from the tough, dry, horrid roast meats (the worst roast joints I've ever tried!) to the soggy sitting luke warm veg, bullet peas, lumpy mash & gravy granule gravy....so disappointing & definitely not worth the price & glad we didn't pay extra for the upselling 'pigs in blankets'. As soon as we'd got our plates to serve our own veg the guy decided that was a good time to replenish the accompanying sauces so that meant we were left waiting again holding our plates! It doesn't take much to get a good carvery roast done well but don't go here for that experience! We were going to get take home puds but decided not to give them any more of our money! Shame on you The Mallard..we will never be back again after 2 awful meals there's no 3rd chance for our custom! Don't...
Read moreWe've been here many times for the Sunday carvery and usually it's wonderful unfortunately the last time (Sunday 26th October) the food was very poor, beef extremely rare and bleeding all over the tray, when asked by my partner about this the chef/server replied she likes her meat that way so cooked it that way, the gravy was full of lumpy granules, mash was very bland, and the cauliflower cheese was more like cauliflower milk lacking the usual hit of cheese it has had in the past. The waitress who came to enquire how our meal was couldn't have been more helpful and agreed the food wasn't up to the usual standards, I really hope this was just a minor blip and things can quickly return to the previous standards of food. On a side note I didn't appreciate watching the lady who sliced and served the meat continuesly disappearing behind the bar to keep eating what I assumed was crisps then returning to her station to handle peoples plates and food without washing her hands in between, this falls under a food hygiene issue which the FSA takes very seriously, staff are given breaks to go and eat lunch for a reason, if your going to pay people to eat whilst working, can I have...
