Racist owner/employee! Went yesterday to collect tickets for the firework display, the owner/ employee behind the bar didn't notice me as she spoke to 2 other people when I reached the bar. She was referring to someone in a conversation and called whoever she was talking about as a black c. Me being black I heard this and they knew I heard what they said. Absolutely disgusting language and not need for such disgusting language, I will be emailing Martsons about this, I was very offered although it wasn't me that was called a 'black c.
The only positive was the man who handed me my tickets, he was nice but whether that was because I heard the woman working behind the bar call someone a black C* is beyond me. He was nice and welcoming but I cannot say that's only because he knew I heard the conversation they were having.
Edit: as I can't respond to the owner, Alan was great and I had no issues with him at all. Maybe he wasn't aware that she'd say that in that moment and the way he dealt with me was great. He was professional and seemed very pleasant. I would defiantly give him the benefit of the doubt as he was happy to ensure I got into the firework display with the ticket he gave me. So I do not want anyone to blame him. I would give him the benefit of the doubt as I only heard the woman behind the bar saying it and not him, so it would be unfair on Alan to lump him in, I would lean on the side that he wasn't aware...

Landlord and staff very friendly. I am proud to have this pub on my doorstep.
I think they serve bar snacks in the day (sandwhiches) etc. although only heard this off someone else, so don't hold me to it.
Regular band nights on Saturdays with both local bands and tribute acts playing.. well worth a visit.
Quiz night on a tuesday is also good fun, and when all the fun and frolics are over, you'll even get some supper, which is homemade on the premises. The last time it was spag bol and home made chips, which was delicious.
Beer garden also nice in the summer, will be spending a fair few saturday afternoons there :).
The only downside is that they don't show football, but this would spoil the pubs character as being a nice quiet pub to relax and have a laugh with...

Lovely place, very friendly and always smiling staff, recommended us good drinks. also there are kids meals for £2 each - bargain and kids loved it; cobs for adults are fresh and jummy. good pub, enjoyable time with all the family and definitely will come again.
