Ordered a vegetarian pasta and didnât realise it had eggs in it until I took the first bite. I do have a mild egg intolerance so asked the staff if I could order something else instead. Most Italian restaurants Iâve been to have at least 1 vegan option so this has never been a problem for me and all good restaurants normally ask the customers if there are any allergies or intolerances they need to be mindful of as best practice. As I was sure the veggie pasta wouldnât have eggs in it, I didnât feel I needed to ask. But had they asked, I wouldâve told them and they couldâve made me aware of it. So instead of changing the dish they asked me to order another dish and I was told I would be charged for both. Since all the pastas had eggs I didnât want to order another dish. So ended up not eating anything. The staff was very defensive and the manager was extremely confrontational, almost like a bully. She kept saying that her staff had made me aware that the pasta had eggs which was a dumb thing to say as I was only made aware after the food was served and only because I asked. At the end, it was made very clear to me that their staff arenât going to check for any allergies and itâs on me to let them know. Wouldnât be going here anytime soon so thatâs not a problem.
I would say that the chefs here are really good and the food is delicious. I ended up not having my pasta. No one likes wasting food but probably better than having a break out. Any other restaurant wouldâve happily offered a replacement. Overall, very off putting mainly due to how I was treated by the staff, especially...
Read moreMy wife and I just returned home from an absolutely delicious meal at il grano. For starter I had the meatballs which was tasty, and for mains I had the il grano Cazone which is one of the best Cazone I have personally ever had. It was stuffed full with ham, pieces of chicken, minced beef and pepperoni. The selection of desserts all sounded so good but in the end chose banoffee cake. I am really glad I did as it tasted wonderful, it wasn't too sweet and I scoffed it down!! :) I could have eaten 2 of these delicious slices of cake it was that good!! I also had a cheeky taste of my wifes tiramisu and that was delicious too. The service from the whole team at il grano was fantastic. Overall we were both really impressed with our dinner and will be returning soon for sure! I highly recommend this restaurant if you are in the area or looking for somewhere special to eat and also recommend you book because it is obviously a popular restaurant and was busy the whole time we were there. My thanks to the whole team at il grano for a lovely...
