We visited The Snack Shack after a friend’s recommendation and reading promising reviews. We certainly weren’t disappointed. We were lucky to visit on a sunny day, which added to the experience. As the name suggests, it really is a small shack, and the facilities are simple but clean, including a basic toilet at the back. There isn’t much parking nearby, so I’d recommend arriving early or being prepared to walk about 10 minutes from the main car park. By 11 am, it was already getting busy, but the atmosphere remained relaxed. We ordered the Lobster Roll (£15.50), which initially felt a bit steep, but it was packed with lobster, as you can see from the photo. That said, I actually preferred the Fisherman’s Roll—the fish was warm, fresh, and more satisfying overall. We also had a tea and a water, and the total came to just over £30. While the quality of the fish was excellent, the rolls left us wanting a little more. I would’ve liked some extra sauce or toasted rolls for added texture, but I understand that may not be to everyone’s taste. Overall, it was a lovely lunch that could be elevated in a few areas. Definitely worth a visit if you’re in the area...

Love it, just love it! Proper seafood, caught local and cooked on the beach. We had a "fish flatbread", "fish and potatoes" and scallops. Well seasoned flour-dusted fish fillets served with homemade tartar and fantastic potatoes, sautéed, we think, (but may be oven cooked) and toasted flatbreads with a fabulous 'slaw. The scallops were perfectly cooked and served with an optional sweet chilli, but not too much that it would be overwhelming them. Expect to queue at lunchtime and share a picnic table with other patrons and wait around 20 minutes for food during busy periods which, as we're talking fresh seasfood here, we think is pretty good going, the staff get food out to guests in a decent time, all in all. Drinks limited to sodas and juices with tea and, I believe, instant coffee only. We missed the sole which was a popular special, but there were so many other options to enjoy, including crevettes, lobster and more besides. It's a snack shack serving fresh seafood, pretty much on the beach. It is NOT a restaurant; It's fabulous and all about the food. Friendly...

Best fish and chips I have ever tried. It would be a five-star if we didn't have to wait for two hours to try it! Went on the weekend of the May Bank Holiday while visiting Dungeness. It had been recommended by several people, and it lived the hype. Apparently, many others wanted to try it, too. There was already a huge queue when we arrived at 12ish am. Still, I think it worthed the wait. The fish was monkfish, soft, tender, and moist but firm; it came with perfectly cooked big chuncky chips and homemade tartar sauce. We tried the king prawns and the scallops in flatbread with slaw, which were all great, but if I'd go back, I'd go for the fish and chips. To note here that this canteen is next to their fishmongers shop, in a turn of the road in Dungeness with a view of the sea and deserted fish boats on one side and the abandoned nuclear plant in...
