I have to say that I was really delighted to find this place and to start becoming a regular. I know you may get busy on shifts having worked in hospitality for most of my life funnily enough. I think waiting 15 mins for a soft drink. Which was placed somewhere entirely to where I was sitting. To then have the manager on shift talk to me disgustingly as if I had put her out. I said “I apologise for bothering you I know you’re busy” I ordered a drink. May I ask where it is. Placed elsewhere, not answering the question and making me feel unwelcome. Oh and other times manager on shift I’ve ordered food coffees and tipped over a tenner. Kind lady that you are. No short hair or curls if that helps.
The cost of product and judgment shouldn’t be the top priority from someone within the trade. Mindfulness training will help for those busy times but sadly if someone treats me like that when I was nothing but kind then there is truly a problem. Hope this isn’t an occurrence. Please do understand that tones and the way people are made to feel can break confidence in...
Read moreA calm, quiet location on the Folkestone Old High Street, Steep Street is a wonderful reflection of its environment. While small in size, the strange and artistic appeal of the area blends directly into both the interior and food, both of which are of very high quality. Many books line the walls for light reading of old material, and the constantly changing selection of cakes lends itself well to a consistently enjoyable experience (my latest being chocolate orange, as I have a rather sweet tooth). The staff are polite and follow all current COVID rules very well, with each table being isolated in small sections. This does not feel claustrophobic, however, and creates a very cosy atmosphere. Overall, a place I would happily visit again, alongside my partner, who loved it so much that when she came down from London, this was her first choice of location to sit at. Quiet and calm, and generally amazing. Well done,...
Read moreThis is probably my favourite coffee shop I've ever been to and I never seem to visit often enough! The cakes are amazing, literally like a doorstop and hard to finish by yourself, I like the fact that half of them are vegan and you wouldn't have a clue because the taste is just as good 😁 The sausage roll has to be the nicest sausage roll I've ever had, but I have a massive soft spot for a bit of caramelised onion 😍🤤 it is a posh sausage roll though, not your typical one but worth every penny! Coffee wise it's great, I'm no coffee expert but for me it's nice enough. I've also tried the chai which isn't particularly traditional chai but a very western chai recipe, sweet and lots of cinnamon- It's fine but could be more authentic. As for the decor and atmosphere, as everyone says it's so cute and cosy.. definitely love this place and the staff are always so lovely and amazing, really friendly and make it a joy...
