During a one-day trip with friends, we came across this lovely riverside pub while looking for a refreshing drink. It’s a small, local pub with an incredibly friendly and welcoming owner. We were hoping for a rum-based cocktail, and although there wasn’t a cocktail menu, the owner kindly suggested a few options. We chose one of his recommendations, and he prepared a cocktail for us — it was absolutely excellent, far beyond our expectations. Along with that, we also tried a cloudy local apple cider, which was fantastic. We had a great chat with the owner, and even ended up having a long and enjoyable conversation with one of the customers. The atmosphere was warm, friendly, and truly local. Interestingly, we even talked about the 24-hour military-style clock — a small but quirky detail that made the visit even more memorable. I highly recommend stopping by, having a chat with the owner, and spending some time in this charming pub.

left canoes at the river and walked up in torrential 2023 summer rain. The pub was a great stop and the onside brewed beer was great. Really liked the outdoor sheltered tables so we could stay in our wet gear and get out of the rain whilst enjoying the beer.. Great place hope it continues so I can visit again on a better day

Very good home brewed beer, always friendly when we've turned up. Plan to frequent more often, been told the Indian out back is also good, but not tried that yet.

Gorgeous food, wonderful host in Ali and the service is fantastic. Best meal I have had in ages. I am so sick of bland much of the same, Indian curries. This stands out head and shoulders above the rest and is a refreshing change with exciting choices and an amiable atmosphere. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place and the atmosphere is lovely in the pub too with the landlord being very welcoming. I don't know what the other reviewers are on about but if you check out the dates on them it must have been about 4-5 years ago as this is NOT what it is like now. Go, you will not be disappointed and it will become a regular favourite as it is with us. We come down from Manchester to stay for weekends and always make a point of heading for the River...

Just arrived as google & website clearly states the restaurant is open on a Sunday...

Parked up walked up to get drinks & straightaway get attitude from who was serving drinks outside.. Told you go & get food from the van I then said but your website & google say your open as a restaurant to be told it’s closed I point out the mistakes that said your open to be told we are closed & get more attitude...

I guess if your not in the click in this pub forget it as your simply get the local attitude..

My advice stay away as I got some really bad vibes & pure attitude even to point of aggressive towards me & my wife...

I Won’t every set foot on this establishment again...

Just spend your money with someone who does not have a big chip on their...
