Booked here whilst staying in the local area for a Sunday roast, initial enquiry and booking over the phone were pleasant.

We arrived and ordered some drinks before taking a seat at the table, we waited half an hour at the table before one of the party went up to check whether we were supposed to order at the bar or whether it was table service. One of the staff then came to take our order at which point we were told some of the meat options were unavailable, half of the table wanted this. To have to chase to be served to begin with and only then be told that menu items were unavailable is just poor.

Food took a further half an hour to come, over an hour after we arrived. The beef was average and I was shocked to have a chicken breast served as their chicken option rather than carved meat. £22 for two chicken breasts as meat was certainly not up to standard.

Up until this point the visit had yes been disappointing, however when we were being served the staff were friendly and helpful.

As we were leaving the waitress behind the bar remarked to her colleague “thanks for the tip” at that point one of the party confirmed the experience wasn’t good enough to warrant leaving a tip. Having worked in hospitality and eaten out around the country I have never experienced such shocking or small minded attitude.

Overall such a poor experience, couldn’t recommend there based...

Sign outside promises food from 12 till 3 every day and that dogs are welcome. Arrived at 12 on a Sunday and all the tables in the bar area (not restaurant) are reserved except one. Which we sit at. Go to the bar to order drinks and they ask us if we are sitting at a made up table (they all were). I said we were and they advised that they needed table at half 1. I said that was fine and asked if I could order food. No. I couldn't. They only serve reserved tables on Sunday. Absolute joke. We could of ordered, eaten and be gone by 1 easily....

They then add insult to injury by placing a reserved sign on our table whilst we are sitting there. So rude.

It is a pub trying to be a restaurant. They need to amend their signage as dogs are as welcomed as a bout of food poisoning, and you can't eat on a Sunday unless you book (which it doesn't say anywhere on any of their signs).

If you want a comfy olde worlde pub, look elsewhere. Haven't felt less welcome in an establishment for a long time and would advise dog owners to...

Large car park, so worked great for our group of 19 (Booked for 20 though)

I booked around 2 weeks before, and we got a table for 12:00!

All on one table, the staff where very friendly and accommodating. The pub itself very warm and cosy. With pets also allowed in, which we got greeted by one on arrival.

Majority of us had Sunday Dinner. which was one of the best I have had!

Would highly recommend

We had a little hassle at the end with people who had and hadn't ordered extra's, as I'm aware Yorkshire puddings are classed as a extra but the staff put one of all plates when some didn't want some.

Made it a little confusing with all the other extras people ordered but I understand why the staff did it, and we got around the issue after about 10-15 minutes, with everything getting paid.

Again a huge thank you to the staff!

They where even happy to our photo, will 100% be back

What a great little pub near Wye Valley! We spent the weekend there and on Sunday evening it was a struggle to find somewhere to eat as there's limited places. Found this little gem and gave them a call and the lady that answered was lovely. A good five minutes later we were sat on this pub and the same lady gave us the Menu and we ordered a small feast. The Garlic Mushroom with Focaccia bread was hearty and fragrant. The topside beef was tender and perfectly cooked and went really well with the gravy and my partner's mushroom risotto was rich and earthy! We also ordered a cauliflower cheese and that too was pretty great, albeit a tad bit mushy. An evening well spent and an awesome end to our weekend! Highly recommend this pub for both drinks and food! Great service and a pleasant experience.

Was absolutely Amazing, Staff was amazing so friendly and made us feel so welcome, The Sunday beef was perfect , beef just melted, spuds crispy yet fluffy, the carrots was perfect just a little bite to them. the cabbage and broccoli aswell had that little bite, Yorkie was golden and crispy, the stuffing was moist and not dry and the gravy was made with real meat stock just everything on the plate was beautiful, I am a chef so I just judge every I eat its a gift and a curse but this Sunday lunch is probably the best I have had in years. it was our honeymoon aswell and they even gave us a dessert absolutely recommended if you are in the area 100% book for Sunday lunch. Big thank you to the staff for making as feel so welcome absolutely will be back.

Staying at the forest holidays lodge down the road and this pub was recommended so we walked there, took about 15 minutes. Got served at the bar by Carol, had a drink whilst we looked over the menu and then ordered 2 cheese and bacon burgers. Our table was set in 5 minutes, then our food came out in about 15 minutes. The burger was huge and delicious and the onion rings were huge and one of the best I've ever had. Lovely atmosphere, great staff, great drinks and excellent value for money. If you're in the area, definitely worth a visit.
