Booked here whilst staying in the local area for a Sunday roast, initial enquiry and booking over the phone were pleasant.
We arrived and ordered some drinks before taking a seat at the table, we waited half an hour at the table before one of the party went up to check whether we were supposed to order at the bar or whether it was table service. One of the staff then came to take our order at which point we were told some of the meat options were unavailable, half of the table wanted this. To have to chase to be served to begin with and only then be told that menu items were unavailable is just poor.
Food took a further half an hour to come, over an hour after we arrived. The beef was average and I was shocked to have a chicken breast served as their chicken option rather than carved meat. £22 for two chicken breasts as meat was certainly not up to standard.
Up until this point the visit had yes been disappointing, however when we were being served the staff were friendly and helpful.
As we were leaving the waitress behind the bar remarked to her colleague “thanks for the tip” at that point one of the party confirmed the experience wasn’t good enough to warrant leaving a tip. Having worked in hospitality and eaten out around the country I have never experienced such shocking or small minded attitude.
Overall such a poor experience, couldn’t recommend there based...
Read moreSign outside promises food from 12 till 3 every day and that dogs are welcome. Arrived at 12 on a Sunday and all the tables in the bar area (not restaurant) are reserved except one. Which we sit at. Go to the bar to order drinks and they ask us if we are sitting at a made up table (they all were). I said we were and they advised that they needed table at half 1. I said that was fine and asked if I could order food. No. I couldn't. They only serve reserved tables on Sunday. Absolute joke. We could of ordered, eaten and be gone by 1 easily....
They then add insult to injury by placing a reserved sign on our table whilst we are sitting there. So rude.
It is a pub trying to be a restaurant. They need to amend their signage as dogs are as welcomed as a bout of food poisoning, and you can't eat on a Sunday unless you book (which it doesn't say anywhere on any of their signs).
If you want a comfy olde worlde pub, look elsewhere. Haven't felt less welcome in an establishment for a long time and would advise dog owners to...
Read moreLarge car park, so worked great for our group of 19 (Booked for 20 though)
I booked around 2 weeks before, and we got a table for 12:00!
All on one table, the staff where very friendly and accommodating. The pub itself very warm and cosy. With pets also allowed in, which we got greeted by one on arrival.
Majority of us had Sunday Dinner. which was one of the best I have had!
Would highly recommend
We had a little hassle at the end with people who had and hadn't ordered extra's, as I'm aware Yorkshire puddings are classed as a extra but the staff put one of all plates when some didn't want some.
Made it a little confusing with all the other extras people ordered but I understand why the staff did it, and we got around the issue after about 10-15 minutes, with everything getting paid.
Again a huge thank you to the staff!
They where even happy to our photo, will 100% be back
