The owners made us feel very welcome and are dog friendly and gave us plenty of info on local pubs and chippys and local walks, the whole staff were friendly and helpful you can’t really fault them.
The on site ( also dog friendly ) cafe is open 9-5, with breakfast and lunch menu food is great reasonably priced, a decent selection too well worth a visit even if it’s just for a cuppa and a slice of home made cake or cream scone and tea/ coffee. You can book in for a very tasty Sunday lunch for around £12.00
We were having breakfast and the server came over with 2 little treats on a tiny platter and asked if she could give them to our 2 dogs which was nice, it was the little platter made us smile , furry sir and Madame, I present your treats
Anyhow Speaking of chippys the closet one is called Frydays in the village of Little dean there is one in Blakeney its a tad further away and was rammed when we went there, waited 45 minutes for food, it was nice though And the closest pub is a about a 4 minute walk or there abouts, they serve pub meals and are also dog friendly
The site is a small site we found our pitch was big enough to pitch a Hampton 8 DXL put the guy lines and park my car by the site of it with enough room to walk around it. So not what I’d call a small pitch I think it’s got limit of 6.5 meters wide so pretty decent. Some are smaller though. Pitch was A bit bumpy. And sloping slightly at the back we were under a tree I wanted to cut a branch or 2 off that was touching our brand new tent but didn’t. The Electric hook up was in with the price was stables and never tripped out at all.
There is a toilet block which is inside a porta cabin ladies to the left gents to the right with one shower in middle and there is a second shower that can be found next to the cafe. They were out of Toilet roll for most of the day because the site and the cafe were so busy but it really should have been sorted out.
They have outside dish washing facilities which is not under shelter so not ideal if it’s raining which it did during our stay, be warned the water coming out of those taps is very hot. It could do with some kind of roof though to protect you from great British weather . They do have an under shelter gas BBQ which is free for you and the rest of the site to use it can get busy but hey it’s free a nice little perk.
They have a recycling area by the side of the porta cabin Separate bins for glass ,plastic, food tins, drink cans, a bin for dogs mess/ poo bags, and black bins for general rubbish so nice and easy.
There are picnic benches dotted around it could do with a few more but it’s not too big an issue
They have a bar on site that open when the park is busy for soft drinks and stronger stuff in cans and wine . It’s a refurbed horse box, I’ll let you discover the “bar/pubs” name it made me chuckle.
There are some nice walks along the banks of the river Severn
A pleasant stay but it feels and looks a bit of a working progress there’s a double decker bus not sure what that’s for and a canal boat shell. Maybe a future project. Price point is bit high for what you get but I guess if you make use of BBQ it would help you feel better about the nightly price .
We can only review what we experience and based on that I can’t see us returning any time soon. Which is a shame it has such potential
Disliked: It’s August bank holiday and its far from tranquil different music competing at various volumes As well as some loud people big and little . Noise wound down when it wound down there was nobody coming around telling people to keep the noise and music down, most sites we’ve been 10:00 - 10:30 your told that’s it keep it down but not here Add to that the trains thundering passed and the traffic of the A48 it’s not what we would...

Disliked: Stayed on a bank holiday weekend so the place was rammed with all sorts of inconsiderate campers. The people next to us pitched so close and tgen put wind breaks up to us we could not get our caravan out. Luckily the people.on the other side helped us remove our van from site. To be honest the site owner had let two many people on site and had not supervised where they put there tents up. The facilities were adequate for the amount of people that were there on the first night but wholly inadequate for the amount of people that were there over the bank holiday weekend. There were 2 showers to service 25 pitches so approximately 100 people and quickly got disgusting. As for the rest of the site I think it is in decline as the cafe bus and the shop were closed and full of junk. The site is also not secure with the entrance to the site being open to the cafes carpark all the time. This made me very nervous and meant that I had to put on my hitchlock and wheel clamp after I had pitched up. In summary the site is the poor secon cousin to the cafe everything on the sit is a bit second hand and cobbled together. Where as the cafe is very nice. I know from personal experience how tight finances can be running a roadside cafe as a friend of mine has one and he is always 1 step away from going broke. But instead of propping up the cafe with the campsite invest just a little more in the site and supervise where the campers pitch up. And this site will have a very...

All areas were clean, and consistently checked by the owners who also live on site by the cafe should you have any problems! The owner even came round on Saturday night to each pitch to check everything was alright and check in with people and had a chat with people which was really nice to see! Would definitely stay again as it’s a great spot if you’re stopping over for a few days of exploring around the Forest of Dean which is what we did!
Disliked: Only negatives are that as you are right by the road you hear all cars passing by especially the convoy of police cars that went past with sirens each night. There are only two showers on site, so could definitely do with at least two more for the amount of people on site! This is nothing to do with the the site itself but if you camp here phone signal is very...
