I’d highly recommend Cafe Darkhane in Pelaw. The warmest of welcomes and very delicious food. We had only tried a few Nepalese dishes before visiting but staff were happy to give advice about the menu and dishes. Food was absolutely delicious and portions were generous. We both loved our starter of chicken momo (Nepalese dumplings) and the curries were perfectly cooked and expertly spiced. The rice and keema paratha accompaniments were also generous and very moreish. £35 was incredible value for food of this quality (2 starters and 2 mains; it is BYO so we brought beer from home.) We are both looking forward to our next visit. I believe it is family-run which is another huge plus!

"HIDDEN GEM IN PELAW" We were not sure what to expect from this restaurant and Nepalese food, but from our first meal we were blown away. The staff are incredibly friendly and you can they they have been in the industry for years. The food is amazing and reasonably priced. You can taste the quality and knowledge that goes into the dishes from the chef. From the full Nepalese meals, to chicken wraps and English dishes, we cannot complain about a single thing. Pelaw and The surrounding Gateshead area is very lucky to have a restaurant of this calibre. Hopefully it's here for years to come 🙏😊

My Dad & I stumbled upon this little gem today. Warm & friendly welcome, food was outstanding & very reasonable. Father & son business & serving the most authentic Nepalese/Indian cuisine around. Portions are perfect & even allowed us to grab a beer from next door! Will definitely be back!

I've been going here at least once a week for couple months now and it's one of my favourite places to eat, all of the food is fresh and incredibly tasty, I often go for breakfast but it's also some of the best curry I've ever had.

The place is always well maintained, clean & tidy, the staff are super friendly & polite and the prices don't match the calibre of the food at all, it's very cheap for such excellent quality. I...
