Once upon a time, a young man and his girl were itching to get out of their home. The area being small and not much variety in the way of food. The variety is bus or car journeys out. They wanted to go for a walk, some food and a beer or 10. They pulled out the laptop, fired up google chrome and went searching. After a lengthy 2-3 minutes they found the highwayman. It's promising menu included vegan options, vegetarian options and meat options. Truly a place for all people . After seeing it is a 10 minute walk for them they rushed their shoes on, locked their door and set out with a plan and a destination. What they didn't know was that to reach their destination they had to climb what seemed like a mountain to reach it. With the sweat of their brows, the promise of beer and leg days that don't quite they made it. These two adventurers walked in and saw two areas, a restaurant area and a bar area. They took a seat near the bar to watch the British Championships, order their food and drinks and looked back on their journey. It was a nice atmosphere, everyone seemed to know everyone, the bar staff were nice and polite. Despite not having Heineken they settled for Coors Light.
The food arrived, it was a busy day so our two adventurers had to wait a little longer, but in each others company it flew by. The food looked and smelled great. A burger worthy of a 9/10, the cheese sauce oozed out of the sides all over his curly fries. He was happy to see they stuck to his "No Tomato" request. Each bite was heavenly, he wished he had gotten two burgers after he wolfed the first down. The vegan option was sweet and sour crispy quorn which were described as "Kinda like the nuggets from McDonald's but made for vegans" The rice was, well rice. The adventurers left, happy and full.
Overall the experience was nice, the adventurers would like to say that the burger which is homemade should come with an option for how it is cooked, like steak has. Maybe some vegan mayonnaise. See you...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreOh dear! Having visited this pub many times and leaving glowing reviews this is my first disappointing experience here, so took the baby grandson out and arrived around 5.20 ordered drinks and starters starters arrived promptly with a child's meal for baby was very nice! Then went up to order main meals and another round of drinks at 5.45 I asked the barman if we could have babies ice cream sundae a.s.a.p to keep him busy! 50 minutes later after many tears off baby and watching tables who arrived well after our mains order getting huge orders brought out as well as the gent who ordered 30 seconds before me get his food within 20 minutes we had had enough! Cancelled the mains order paid the bill and left! Now I must point out staff members were lovely as always (apart from the barman who didn't really pay any attention to what I was saying) which is unusually for him as he is normally quite attentive and I appreciate things can get busy (pub was around a third full) so notify customers there maybe a lengthy wait and allow them to...
Ā Ā Ā Read moreI like many things about the place except that apparently now they dont take orders over the phone. They said they couldnt take payment over the phone therefore wouldnt take an order which is bs, card machines can take payment by typing the card details in. I asked if it was a recent change, the person on the phone didnt know (i have always ordered on the phone before).
Anyway, I did try to order online and their system didnt work (page didnt load). I phoned back. Laura was totally unelpful again, and when i asked, she said there was no manager or senior staff on duty to pass the phone to in case they could have made an exception or helped with the system, given it was a fault on their end.
She didnt show any care (like say "i am sorry about this"), and didnt make any effort to help. Clearly she does not care for customers, or about making sure the pub continues to have business. A total...
