This is a very nice location that I stumbled on. I was in the area and looking for a nice place for having a meal. I was attracted by the photos on Google maps... and I was not disappointed. Because the restaurant area was fully booked in advance the hostess, Lisa that was very helpful and nice, suggested to have a sit in the bar area and it was a very good suggestion.
Although, she said that the only downside of the bar was the fact that there are no waiters and I will have to order at the bar, I did not feel like a very big difference because I had access at the same menu available as in the restaurant area, so after ordering at the bar and sat at the table. The starters came in good time and they were very good. We had Crispy Salt & Pepper Squid and Korean BBQ Chicken Strips, they were delicious. And after we finished the starters, although it was a busy evening, short time after the starters finish the staff brought the mains, we had Sea Bass & Seared Scallops and 28-Day-aged Prime Sirloin 8oz with Garlic & Mushroom Cream Sauce (V), again we were not disappointed they were delicious, the stake was perfectly cooked to the medium rare, as I requested, and the Sea Bass & Seared Scallops was delicious as far as I understood.
I wood recommend this establishment to anyone that is in the area looking for a nice place to have a good meal, nice event or a meeting because far as I could see is a perfect location for any kind of event. Even if you don't have a reservation the hostess will offer the best sit available in the bar area and the atmosphere is perfect for a nice meal or even a meeting between a small party at the music is at the best volume to be heard and not interrupt any conversation that might happen.
Also seams dog friendly as I saw a sign that said there were dogs ice-cream available on demand.
All in all is a very good location, nice and friendly staff...
Read moreI had some vouchers as I had changed Tesco Clubcard points and the Hutt was one of the chef and Brewer restaurants nearby. Anyway we arrived around 1 p.m. and there were people outside drinking but certainly nobody inside the school. Not to get the managers attention as he was busy on the phone and that continues for around 15 minutes. When we eventually got seated we were told the vouchers could not be used like cash they had to be off the main menu normal prices so you couldn't have any of the deal which were posted everywhere. There was a different choice on the menu however when the food arrived it was quite simply average. Not particularly well presented, not particularly hot, not particularly tasty or memorable. For whatever reason the lack of service and the average meal has put me off the prospect of planning my birthday party meal in the next couple of weeks so I'm going to look at other chef and brewers at the results. I'm glad I tested it out first but at £50 for two people I have had some fantastic meals and I would definitely not call it value for money. This review is not celebrate nor is it meant to provoke and response I was simply scouting place for my birthday and as they have the ties meals like 2 for £10 or two steaks and a bottle of wine for £20 etc then I didn't not expect the bill to be so high for pub grub. As I say perfectly edible but not great....
Read moreWe had the unfortunate experience of celebrating my son’s 17th birthday at The Hutt Ravenshead and it was an absolute disaster as we couldn't wait to leave. The restaurant was not busy, yet we had to wait an incredibly long time for our food to be delivered. To add insult to injury, when the food finally arrived, it was lukewarm and the portions were so small that it left us feeling hungry and disappointed. So glad Sainsbury’s is down the road to top us up and rescue the night somewhat.
The prices were extremely high for the small portions we received, including a young guest's meal which could have passed as a starter (3 meat balls, sauce and a handful of pasta), and the drinks were outrageously expensive £4.45 for a pint of shandy, I would have expected to pay £4.45 for a full pint, making the whole family experience feel like a complete waste of time and money. £80 we spent on a family meal with drinks, but in hindsight it was a £40 to £45 meal at best.
Overall, I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for a quality dining experience for a special occasion, it was all very OK but not special. The Hutt Ravenshead needs to improve their food quality, portion sizes, prices, and service if they want to keep customers coming back. Save your money and go somewhere else.
EDIT, changed to 1 star from 2 for the copy and paste response everyone gets....
