Went there last Sunday to watch the football with my son...got there 12.40 sat in nice seat by bar opposite the TV...there was 3 tables I sat in middle best view... Then a bar lady came over put tables reserved for 2pm..I asked who for the regulars was her reply....12.45 my son comes in gets himself a drink...then a party of say 6 sit to my right ..I think I will move over to far left so they can get in I won't be selfish...so I'm sat on far left table my phone goes so I get up to take call outside...and a punter sits in my seat ..he knows its my seat but still sits there. What u doing u idiot I say don't call me that I said ur a rude idiot In fact u could clearly see my drink is there....he said we booked table ibsaid yes 2pm it's 12.50...I go outside as I'm raging to take my phone call ..I come back in no drink ..manager comes over and asks me to leave as I swore at 1 of his customers ... a rude idiot isn't that bad when someone jumps in your seat ....i did point out to him it was his fault booking tables at 2pm and his customers expecting it demanding it at 12.50 and pushing out a customer as he just got up...I understand all pubs need regulars it's good business for them and they need to be kept happy ...but it was his customer who was in the wrong ...and the manager could of handled it so much better ...this manager is new to the pub and has a bad attitude...the previous week I asked for pint of pepsimax which was 2 thirds full he said that's what u get as u didn't have ice surely ice is optional ...u wouldn't serve a pint of carling other larger available with a third missing.... As I can't reply ...I was never offered another table my son was which I didn't no ...and that still leaves me with time 12.50 and table reserved for 2 pm ...which I thought we could watch first half..ur customer sits in my seat as I get up u think this is OK Ur customer was rude which I told him this people heard what I said ... I also heard a footy fan Sunday was swearing inftont of kids and u let this go .. Atleast u took time to reply instead of a box standard copy and paste reply... Looking forward to ur...
Read moreWe chose to come here because there is a good gluten free menu. We ordered our food at the bar including gluten free meals for my 2 sons (12 and 15) I checked when ordering that the gluten free burger would come with a bun because my 12 year old said he would choose something else if not and was assured there would be a gluten free bun. We waited a while for the food to come but didn't mind. Then someone came out to say that our food was ready but there was no bun for his burger so he had to have salad with a naked burger. He was really disappointed. They were delighted to see gluten free chocolate cake on the menu so I ordered 2 of those to make up for the disappointment as wellas a sundae for my 3rd son. Again after a wait we were told they could only find one in the freezer but would keep looking and let us know. About 15 mins later, one chocolate fudge cake and one sundae was brought to the table by the lady who took the order and payment with no mention at all of the third. When I said we'd paid for 3 desserts she started reeling off others that we could have so I remind her that it would be gluten free and asked for another sundae. Overall the food we received was lovely but the experience was laughable that we were told of the stock problems when our food was ready to come to the table for both courses and some miscommunication that resulted in only 2 desserts being brought out. For my sons with Coeliac Disease eating out can be stressful and embarrassing and unfortunately that was the experience here, with their differences highlighted. Such a shame with the impressive...
Read moreDuring my recent visit to The Greyhound, I found myself immersed in an atmosphere that recalled the warm, convivial spirit of old taverns. The establishment, sturdy and welcoming, boasts a fine selection of ales and a charm that draws in all who seek both refreshment and fellowship.
Ed and Luke, the pub’s skilled bartenders, ensured that every guest was well cared for. Ed, with his swift and attentive manner, poured each drink with a precision that bespoke years of practice, while Luke’s affable demeanor and knack for conversation added a layer of cheer to the evening.
A highlight of the night was the pub quiz, an event that challenged the minds of the assembled patrons. The quiz brought forth spirited debates and moments of clever insight, transforming the gathering into a lively contest of wits. It was a delightful blend of friendly rivalry and communal laughter—a true celebration of both mental agility and camaraderie.
In summary, The Greyhound offers more than just hearty drinks. It provides an experience steeped in tradition and merriment, where attentive service and engaging activities like the pub quiz create memories that linger long after the last...
