We booked for 5 people to eat fairly late in the evening so it wasn't very busy, it was after the expected dinner rush. This also meant that parking was okay, you obviously get poor parking from some folks but there were plenty of spaces. This is not true at peak times or when the nearby hotel is full. On entering we did have an independent delivery driver push through the family unit, not roughly at all but there wasn't an opportunity to move ourselves out the way, no huge fuss (we are British 'donchaknow') but it was a little disruptive before the meal. We were greeted warmly and seated quickly in a booth, our orders were taken (carvery thanks) and asked if we'd been before (yes) to confirm we knew what was what. The table service in general was great, enough contact to feel served but not intrusive (thank you Elliott). We did have to wait a couple of minutes for the carver/server to turn up (another staff member went and found them) - doesn't seem a long time on paper but milling around at the time it felt quite a while. The meat selection was good, it was cooked well, and the portions were a decent size, the self served additions (mainly veg) were plentiful and okay. Obviously I took too much. Considering the sides were sat under hot lights in bulk they were good, if it had been served fresh (as at home) you'd feel some of it was a little over done. No labels on the different gravy pots and assumed the options were the same. Ate and drank more then we really needed, paid quickly and left. All took about an hour. The people here were lovely the food was okay, the place is starting to feel well used but absolutely fine. We didn't pay a huge amount but we did use a 50% off food voucher - keep an eye out!

Me and my wife went for breakfast on the off chance, as we'd heard the buffet was nicer than most other places, and we were passing by with time to spare. The wait times were non-existent, and the food was very nice compared to other breakfast 'all-you-can-eats' as we had been told. A lot of these buffet breakfasts can be too bland, too cold, and just leave you feeling like you'd been better off with a bowl of cereal and getting out of there. The food here had a lot of flavour, was warm-to-hot, and was constantly getting changed. The staff were really accommodating and helpful. Unfortunately the restaurant was filthy. Muck on the floor, build up of filth around the edges of the walls, tables not wiped down adequately. Patches of mustard still left over from the carvery the night before, and the seats... slopped up with crumbs and residue galore. I will let the pics speak for themselves. I think this is down to a shortage in staff, as is the case with most places, but still, it was enough to make us rethink coming back, and once we noticed, did put us off our food. Before that I admit the food was better than expected, but the state of it wouldn't have me going back for breakfast or dinner.

Food was great, I had beef and it was generous and good. The wait staff were lovely, clearly understaffed. I ordered tea before queuing for food, it took over 20 mins to be served, so my tea was cold when I sat to eat. My main concerns were, the hostess stand was covered in dust and clearly hadn't been cleaned for weeks. The menus on our table were sticky and dirty. Most alarming was that the carver was so slow another member of the team joined her who was dressed as a chef, she wore long fake painted nails as she carved and served the meat. This I recently ate at another branch which was nothing like this, so I think this branch needs training and leadership shake up. Oh and my milk jug for tea, huge and dirty, see pic.

On arrival we were greeted nicely by the front desk staff and our table was getting ready. we waited around 5-10minutes. There was thee adults and one baby. My Husband and daughter went up first, had to wait nearly 25minutes to get to the front of the que. Upon getting there the one person serving the meat went out to the back to get more meat rather than serve. They were another 15minutes before returning. My Husband asked for crackling as the bowl was empty the one staff member that was there said he would get some but none came. I went up next and i got served after 15minutes waiting. I asked for Pork and the staff member cut the "meat" but they just put cuts of FAT on my plate. I had to tell them to change it as i was going to be served 3 slices of FAT. I also asked for Crackling as the container was empty anther worker who was doing the veg was asked to get some. I continued to place my veg on my plate and i ended up slipping on food on the floor and pulled a muscle in my leg and back. I cleaned up the floor with the dropped food.

The restaurant was far to hot to be sitting in and we had to ask for the Air con to be put on to make it bearable to sit and eat.

The floor staff and the waitress we had was lovely and couldn't do more for us and we really apricate our server on the day. staff on the food serving area needs to be increased.

When we were sitting eating our meal during the time we were there the que for the food increased from around 5-10 people to up to 30 and some waited half an hour to get food. As only one person was serving food, chatting to staff and not paying attention to what they were doing.

It was an OK experience, but i dont think i would be...

Terrible experience on a Saturday. Myself, my partner and our 5 year old daughter visited. We wanted to order some items from the standard menu, which were loaded roast potatos, the cheesy mushrooms, a kid's mac and cheese and the Toby salad with carvery meat. We had to track down a waiter to order (Patrick) and when we did he looked at us like we were crazy, particularly when I ordered the salad.

We waited 20 minutes then the mac and cheese and the loaded potatoes arrived. We took our daughter up to get vegetables to go with her pasta. She had carrots, pea and cauliflower cheese. The carrots were over boiled and fairly tasteless. The cauliflower cheese was so watery that it was dripping and the cheese could barely be tasted. I can confidently say that it was the worst cauliflower cheese I've ever tasted. After another half an hour the cheesy mushrooms and my salad had still not arrived. We had tried to chase them up a few times and the waiter kept assuring us they were on the way.

By this point we lost patience and decided to leave. We spoke to the manager and informed them why we were leaving and that we would only be paying for what we had actually received. The manager voded off our other items. They didn't offer a single apologetic word, in fact they didn't speak at all!

Overall the service was terrible, the manager's response was pathetic and the food that did turn up was barely passable. Considering that this is a carvery specialist it was particularly disappointing that the vegetables were so awful.

Do not waste your money here. You'd be better off in the Morrison's cafe...
