We booked for 5 people to eat fairly late in the evening so it wasn't very busy, it was after the expected dinner rush. This also meant that parking was okay, you obviously get poor parking from some folks but there were plenty of spaces. This is not true at peak times or when the nearby hotel is full. On entering we did have an independent delivery driver push through the family unit, not roughly at all but there wasn't an opportunity to move ourselves out the way, no huge fuss (we are British 'donchaknow') but it was a little disruptive before the meal. We were greeted warmly and seated quickly in a booth, our orders were taken (carvery thanks) and asked if we'd been before (yes) to confirm we knew what was what. The table service in general was great, enough contact to feel served but not intrusive (thank you Elliott). We did have to wait a couple of minutes for the carver/server to turn up (another staff member went and found them) - doesn't seem a long time on paper but milling around at the time it felt quite a while. The meat selection was good, it was cooked well, and the portions were a decent size, the self served additions (mainly veg) were plentiful and okay. Obviously I took too much. Considering the sides were sat under hot lights in bulk they were good, if it had been served fresh (as at home) you'd feel some of it was a little over done. No labels on the different gravy pots and assumed the options were the same. Ate and drank more then we really needed, paid quickly and left. All took about an hour. The people here were lovely the food was okay, the place is starting to feel well used but absolutely fine. We didn't pay a huge amount but we did use a 50% off food voucher - keep an eye out!

Food was great, I had beef and it was generous and good. The wait staff were lovely, clearly understaffed. I ordered tea before queuing for food, it took over 20 mins to be served, so my tea was cold when I sat to eat. My main concerns were, the hostess stand was covered in dust and clearly hadn't been cleaned for weeks. The menus on our table were sticky and dirty. Most alarming was that the carver was so slow another member of the team joined her who was dressed as a chef, she wore long fake painted nails as she carved and served the meat. This I recently ate at another branch which was nothing like this, so I think this branch needs training and leadership shake up. Oh and my milk jug for tea, huge and dirty, see pic.

Came here as a group of 4. When we arrived we waited ages to be seated. Once seated our waiter came and took our orders. I wanted to try the vegan pie but it was out of stock. So had the aubergine stack. Which was lovely. The gravey was not labelled so had to find someone to ask which one was vegan. When ordering dessert i had the vegan option which when it came out had a large dollop of cream. When i reaslised, that had to be sent back, then a new one came out without the coconut icecream like in the description. Once again the waiter had to go back to the kitchen to get the ice cream. My 2 stars is based on the kitchen with their lack of understanding of what vegan is, and not the service as the waiter was great.

Well, if it's unusual, you just have to try it, right? A Yorkshire pud for breakfast. Pud, mushrooms, sausage, bacon, some sort of potato mix, black pudding and Toby's special gravy. It's my own fault because it's serve yourself at the Toby Carvery. It wasn't bad at all as an experiment. There are also eggs, tom's and hash browns to choose from, along with toast etc. Service is polite, the place is clean and the food is fine. Tea and Coffee is on tap with refillables. It's a mid range affair, but for those who like unlimited, eat all you can breakfasts, the Toby Carvery could be the perfect spot. It's surprisingly cheap too at approx £10 per head. Booking is advised and parking is right outside.
