We were very disappointed with our visit. The first impression you have is that of a lovely traditional country pub and you have great expectations of the food and service. However it fell short as soon as we walked in. The young girl in the bar couldn't be bothered to engage in conversation when asked if we could have lunch, instead just pointing at the menu on the bar with a grunt. We found our own table only to find the glasses laid out were absolutely stinking and the menus were to match with food, drink stains and very sticky. The restaurant area is grubby with visible large stains eye level on the net curtains. Unfortunately the meal was very underwhelming. We both went for the salt marsh lamb burger which was lacking any imagination from the chef. The chips were not homemade and very dry,the bun was one of those pre sliced cheap supermarket rubbish with a bit of warm lettuce hanging out and it was no where near the price point of £16.00. It is a shame as it has the potential to be a lot better. The screams of the chef coming from the kitchen bellowing what he had just cooked were off-putting. All in all a very disappointing visit for what I can only describe as... A pub chain quality meal and service hiding inside the exterior of a nice looking pub.

Stopped off here after walking up and around Llanmadoc Hill. Lovely pub and the views are panoramic. Saw a group of red kites hunting.

We were stopping in Rhossili, it was raining, so we needed a dog friendly place to eat. Other dog friendly establishments limited dogs to the garden, so we chose The Britannia Inn as our 9 month old puppy was allowed inside. The staff were instantly welcoming to us. We could have a tab set up straight away. We ordered the Roast Ham and Egg, the Gower Gold and Steak Pie & Moroccan Welsh Lamb Tagine. The pub was full, but the food was delivered quite quickly and to say it was delicious is an understatement. It was superb, the chips were delicious and appeared to be hand made. The meat was so tender that it fell apart. I could go on and on praising the food and the chef. We were latish going in, but they still served us a pudding. White Chocolate Profiteroles, Apple & Blackcurrant Crumble and a Vanilla Cheesecake. All I can say is that they didn’t last long. Adding the whole lot up with drinks did push the bill up a bit. However, even with a bit of an ouch, I was more than happy with what I paid. We are only in the area for a couple of days more, but our last night plans have changed from the nearby hostelry to The Britannia. Well done and a huge thank you to all the staff. Oh, by the way, there are vegetarian options available, which we did consider.

Went for a Sunday dinner, ordered a turkey dinner and was asked 'would you like a Yorkshire with that?' The waitress failed to say there was an additional cost of £1.50 each and if we'd know , we would not have said yes. Making it even more annoying was the fact the Yorkshires were burnt and hard. The stuffing balls were also very hard, my mum couldn't get her knife through hers without grabbing the ball with her fingers and pushing the knife through with a bit of force, it was very over done. The 1 small turin of vegetables we were given was half full with thin straps white/light green cabbage, some mangetout and a few carrot slices, that's all we were given between 2 grown adults .. I also had to request more gravy even before we started eating as what we were given was no where near enough for 2 adults.. (the jugs were small milk jugs and only half filled with gravy).. very poor imo, especially for the money (£18.95) After food, we were left for ages with no waitress coming to ask if we wanted dessert. Another staff member was placing other guests at a nearby table, so I asked if she could bring us the dessert menu.. that task took her about 5-7 minutes. Once we'd decided on desserts, we waited another 5 minutes, expecting our original waitress to return to take our order, however she didn't. I ended up having to go to the desk in the adjacent room to ask if someone could come take our order. What i noticed, the waitresses were very attentive at the beginning when you were seated, taking drinks order and what you wanted for mains, but then were nowhere to be seen unless you chased them.. thats not good service imo so for that reason, I have given just the 2 stars for...
