Unknown to the owners, but Cornish Cove holds a really dear place in my heart. This town, and this cafe, holds maybe the most cherished memory of my mom for me. Nine years ago, when they first opened, my mom and I were on a trip through England together from the US and spent a couple of weeks in Port Isaac hiking, relaxing and exploring. We went to the Cornish Cove every day we were there, which was brand new, and the owners were lovely to us. The food was great, but we kept going back because she loved chatting with the owners. I always thought to myself that my mom would have loved to become good friends with them, and maybe in another life would move away to this town to stay and enjoy living in such a nice place. It's what I would have wished for her.
This was the last trip that we did together before she got sick, and shortly after passed away. Before she left, we looked back fondly on our time here and made little plans of moving away once she got better. I found some pictures from that time, and I'm happy to see that it is still doing well. It is a special place to me, and I check in on it every once and a while when I'm missing her. I'll return one day and bring her with me.
Thank you for being a friend to my mom nine years ago. It meant a lot to her and it means a lot to me. You guys are...
Read moreCalled in on Sunday about 13.15, we noticed they close at 15.00.
There were four of us & as we walked in, we were abruptly greeted & told there are no tables for four, I noticed there were two tables of two & I asked if we could put these together, we were sharply told NO..i then said we would take the two separate tables of two, again NO..no reason why or no explanation why?
When we did walk in, the rude lady who rejected us did look like she had had enough & I could see she wanted to close, she wasn’t to keen on the family that walked in before us!
If you want to stay in business & not just rely on holiday trade perhaps she needs to work on her ‘front of house’ I would of had so much more respect for her if she told me to ‘bugger off’!
We walked down the village & enjoyed a very good crème tea at the chapel cafe - the staff could of not of been more helpful & we enjoyed a very nice afternoon crème tea - we will now always recommend the chapel cafe!
When we left the village we noticed that the Cornish cove tea room was shut up early at 14.30..I hope this made the owner a little...
Read moreMy wife is a Coeliac and so needs Gluten Free, and our research had shown us that the Cornish Cove Tea Room would be a great option.
We weren't let down, and Lynne and Trev run a fantastic wee cafe. Nothing was too much trouble for them, and they are very gluten free friendly. My wife had a wonderful ham salad sandwich whilst I was indulged with their fabulous honey roasted sausages on a roll (full wheat for me).
The gluten free scones were lovely. The best my wife has had, and such a treat.
A wonderful place, with a superb welcoming atmosphere. Highly recommended for all, and especially for Coeliacs / Gluten Free.
The afternoon tea looked lovely, they have a Gluten Free offer there too, but need 24 hours notice, so don't be disappointed...
