The quality of the food we had was excellent, however we were so disappointed that half the menu was unavailable at 7.15pm. We were advised SOME of the menu was not available and this then changed when we went to order. The starter arrived before we got our drinks and the overall service throughout the evening was really poor. I felt bad because I think they were understaffed but we waited 25 minutes for tap water (after asking twice) and my husband was still waiting for a mussel bowl and I’d already half eaten my main meal. We didn’t bother with desserts as we had already spent the best part of £100 for the evening. To be fair the cocktails were really lovely and one waitress in particular was very apologetic and I think quite embarrassed at the whole situation. By the time we left, someone had sent back a salmon which was undercooked and the person behind us was asked if they like a lift to McDonalds as even more of the menu was unavailable. Such a shame, as we chose this over other restaurants for our meal and the menu items we wanted were unavailable. We asked for the discretionary service charge to be taken off the bill and at that point the lady came to take payment and was quite abrupt and rude. She clearly didn’t realise we were actually going to be leaving a cash tip. After her attitude we decided not to. To top the evening off, both myself and my husband felt ill once returning to our hotel, both very bloated and pretty angry after the experience. I hope this is a one-off. We certainly wouldn’t recommend as clearly someone else needs to be in charge of ordering food and the staff need some...

Very disappointed in the customer service, it was very hot today.. So went in for a drink an a chance to hide from the sun for all of ten minutes.. On walking in i was greeted by a member of staff, an asked if i would be eating in today.. I then replied with no, we've just came in for a drink and would like to sit down.

To which they said yes, little did i know.. They do not like people sitting down if they wernt buying food, but are happy for you to spend your money on a drink, as long as you leave the restaurant.

I then went to the bar, an waited five minutes, for someone to serve me.. The whole time there were four lady workers ignoring me an talking about me and my partner sitting down an not wanting food.. We were made to feel very uncomfortable an finished are drinks very quickly.

On leaving they told a group of Americans they couldnt sit down inside unless they brought some food an would have to go outside. The elderly americans left without buying a drink..

This is the first review I've ever given on anything. I've left this because i wish i had shared this with the members of staff that were rude to us. Lucky for them ive put it in writing.

My advice, go up the road to golden Palace, lovely and respectful because your a...

One of the best meals I’ve ever had, let alone the best almost completely seafood meal I’ve had! 10/10 and would definitely come back

As we were camping in Port Isaac, our plans for a barbecue were scuppered by the remnants of Storm Lilian and the staff at The Mote kindly squeezed the two of us and the dog in for a last minute reservation. From this point on I couldn’t fault the staff.

We opted to sit on the little outside seats which had a handy overhead heater. We got a trio of starters, and each one seemed to get better than the next; my wife can be a little hit or miss with fish dishes but we both cleaned up the crab bruschetta and the smoked mackerel pate (the dog got to try a little bit too, of course!).

Our mains were a good old haddock and chips, cooked perfectly, so the batter was crispy and tasty; and my wife had garlic and parsley mussels which were strangely gone before I could try any!

Wouldn’t be right to finish a review without mentioning our view as the sun went down behind us - couldn’t have been a more perfect way to round off our trip...

Everyone enjoyed their meals of lobster, hake, etc. We shared mussels which were lovely. I had fish & chips which were lovely, eating samphire & mushy peas for the first time in my life as I wanted to try them but won't have them again. Dog friendly. Very expensive as a 12.5% discretionary service tip is added to your bill even though there was only 2 of us & it would have been arkward to not pay. Big waitress was clumsy & kept banging things down on everyone's table by accident & dropped a glass which smashed everywhere, made everyone jump & they had to sweep it all up.

To be honest the food wasn't that good It was my wife's 60th birthday so we booked our favourite table in the window upstairs as we been there before. The window was stuck open and there was a cold wind coming through. The staff were inexperienced the food was very cheesy and the fish batter was burnt. The doom bar was cloudy and had bits in it. Everything was overpriced. Pimms £10 for example. But we managed to reduce the bill slightly after complaining . Previous visits were excellent. I can't understand the difference
