To the Manager (for relay to the staff). 21st Jan 2023 I went to your establishment today for a meal with my niece and my extremely difficult to please elderly mother. We have been many times and have always had good service and good food. I believe I have written once before about a good meal we had, as I am quick enough to complain about things, I am also quick enough to compliment. This time I must say the food was incredible, I mean on a top-quality level. I have been lucky enough to eat in some fine places yet not one of them is better with food than I had today, and a great many are unable to reach such standards on any day. There were also other factors in play, the food all arrived together, three completely different meals, mead, fish, and pie. All three were piping hot and cooked to the moment of excellence. Presentation and placement were most excellent so salad items served with hot items on the same plate did not go limp for example. The server was energetic, eager to please and attentive. I could wax lyrical about the meal today, (ribs for myself, salmon and pie for the ladies). However, I will vote with my wallet and return oft, I will also be letting my extensive network of friends and colleagues know how good today was including a write up in the local paper, The Leicester Mercury. I do hope you this reaches the top and is not intercepted by minions. Well done and thank you very much. Derek C Goodwin esq.

First of all, the place is tired and dirty, greasy table. Waited over 30 mins for the food to arrived. We ordered 2 roast for £10 and didn't really expect much but the roast potato is burnt, more like deep fried then roast. So I asked the young waitress and she wants to take our plate to exchange those potatoes but I refused as we were so hungry (at least 35 mins wait) so I told her to get a plate and we will put potatoes on and let her take them back into kitchen. 15 mins later the potatoes arrived and I nearly finish my plate. Anyway, the chicken roast, more like chicken filet was under average as the meat were tough and chewy. The roast beef, poor, it is exactly like the frozen ready meal 3 slices of tastless 'meat' you get from supermarket, but worst... if they can't do proper roast please don't do it! I even ask the waitress why is the beef black at the edge, she replied thats normal, is how they have been cut. I highly doubt they 'cut' the meat... it was bought I am sure! The service from the waiter was good, but not the young waitress. Another thing annoyed me was that I have called before hand and ask if they have parking space. They replied yes we have but they failed to mention that we have to pay. The park and display is only £1 for 3 hours but they could let us know when I ask about parking.

Went for the first time with my husband for just a casual spontaneous meal out on Saturday evening as I really fancied fish & chips however not available as they ran out which was a little disappointing, but went for the next option of scampi which was still lovely. Table Service was by Sharon who was absolutely wonderful and looked after us very well for the evening and all the other staff had great customer presence. Wasn't so keen on the dessert, brownies sundae wasn't so good. Has a The brownie sundae to share but too much brownie as it was just too solid and heavy and chunky couldn't break it to get into the glass or to bite, not a good brownie, had to remove it. Brownie needs to be lighter and in pieces in the glass...however Will deffo go there again, atmosphere was great. Still need to try the fish and chips, might check before getting there to ensure its available next time.

This restaurant servers the plumpest, juiciest and eye wateringly beautiful ribeye I've had for years. We ordered two rib-eyes medium rare and they were both cooked to absolute perfection. The steaks are accompanied by a huge mound of watercress, some perfectly cooked and tasty vine tomatoes and breaded mushrooms but not the breaded mushrooms you would expect, oh no, these were large flat mushroom, sliced into nice sized chunks and covered in a good solid casing of breadcrumbs. The mushrooms were also meaty and not all wet and mushy as could have so easily been the case if the chefs in this kitchen weren't so capable. Chips were a good size and perfectly cooked. We opted for some additional toppings; Jack Daniels burnt ends and a seafood topping. The burnt ends were actually really juicy and flavoursome (wished I'd actually asked for them on the side as they come on the steak but that was my bad and something I'm sure they would do should you ask). The seafood topping was excellent, with crispy non-chewy squid and firm succulent prawns. We also had a béarnaise sauce and a peppercorn sauce. The béarnaise was magnificent and went perfectly with the steak, fortunately strong enough to overpower the Jack Daniels sauce on the steak (again, my bad). The peppercorn sauce was strong and rich. The kids went for the build your own pasta dish with chicken and a double cheeseburger. The pasta was a fun plate of separate dishes. Nicely cooked bare penne pasta, a jug of fresh tasting tomato sauce, pot of grated cheese, a pot of nice green plump peas , garlic bread and some juicy freshly grilled chicken breast which was super tasty. The cheeseburger was a nice size and we opted for the veg sticks of peppers, cucumber and carrots. Our only negative experience with this meal was the carrot sticks which must have been prepared in advance and as a result were somewhat dried out and lacking in flavour. We had a bottle of the Campo Rioja which is a decent quality red for £14. We were served by CAITLIN who went out of her way to ensure we were well taken care of. We decided not to stay for pudding so she really kindly wrapped up two pieces of their fantastic chocolate brownies for the kids to take back to the hotel. All in all, this is a great restaurant with attentive staff and a kitchen full of chefs who not only know what they are doing, but are working with excellent quality products and have pride in what they send over the pass. I am kicking myself for not taking any photos to share, but it looked so mouth wateringly edible when it arrived, we just tucked in. Well done Green King and CAITLIN, you've surpassed our expectations and rivalled some much bigger names in the steak business. We will definitely be returning here if we are in...

I had booked a table at half 1 two adults two children. Arrived with our booking unsure as to if it had properly gone through (even though our name wasn’t checked on the system) so had to double check as they wouldn’t allow us to be seated without one.

After waiting 15 minutes to be seated, a server came to us and was about to tell us “as I’ve said we aren’t able to seat you” But after stating that there was a booking for us on the system, a empty clean table of 4, in full view, me a very hungry pregnant mum with two very hungry children & a hungry dad who just wanted to sit down and have something to eat - she insisted she wasnt going to turn us away but in fact was going to seat us.

After all that faff, the beef roast dinner was lovely, the portion was very generous, but I would say not to have both potatoes and mash as it is just a bit too much and prep the green beans at least & put the gravy in a gravy boat!

Partners burger was nice, but not amazing.

The children’s pasta was just pasta tubes with the smallest bit of tomato pasta sauce on top. Not the greatest and neither wanted it so clearly didn’t enjoy.

The chips and onion rings were delicious though so no complaints regarding them.

Personally I wouldn’t go to any Greene King for food again.

It was clear after being seated that even though it wasn’t busy, it was understaffed, if the manager had been around and more attentive then the poor ladies serving may not have felt rushed off their feet.

Both ladies, I believe Nas & Kim were their names, were fantastic and I think deserve a good few days off after today.

Also to point out, whilst there we seen a couple who had arrived half an hour after their time slot. I personally think if a table is more than 15 minutes late to a booking then they should be turned away if it’s a booking only...
