The Highlander Inn is an absolute gem tucked away in the heart of the Speyside. From the moment you step through the doors, you're greeted by the warm and inviting atmosphere that permeates every corner of this establishment. I had the pleasure of staying at the hotel and dining at the pub/restaurant during my recent visit, and I must say, it exceeded all expectations. First and foremost, Mr. Tatsuya, the owner of The Highlander Inn, is a true gem himself. His passion and knowledge for whisky are unparalleled, and he is more than happy to share his expertise with anyone who shows interest. Whether you're a seasoned connoisseur or a curious beginner, Mr. Tatsuya will guide you through a whisky journey that will leave you astounded. Speaking of the hotel, the rooms are modern comfortable. They are tastefully decorated, exuding an elegant charm while offering all the amenities one could need. I was thoroughly impressed by the attention to detail and the level of comfort provided. After a long day of exploring, having a shower in the nice bathroom and sinking into the bed was a pure delight. The breakfast at The Highlander Inn is a delightful way to start the day. You have the option of a cooked breakfast or a continental spread, both of which are prepared to perfection. I couldn't resist the cooked breakfast, and it was a treat for my taste buds. The quality of the ingredients was evident, and the flavors were outstanding. Now, let's talk about the restaurant and bar. The food served here is truly excellent. Every dish I tried was bursting with flavor and beautifully presented. Whether you're craving traditional Scottish fare or pub favourites, the menu caters to all tastes. The bar, with its extensive collection of whiskies and well-sourced beers, is a paradise for beverage enthusiasts. You'll find a remarkable variety of whiskies from different regions, showcasing the rich diversity of Scotland's national drink plus some interesting international offerings, particularly excellent Japanese Whisky. Overall, The Highlander Inn is a must-visit destination for anyone who appreciates whisky, excellent food, and comfortable accommodations. Mr. Tatsuya's warm hospitality and his willingness to share his whisky knowledge make this place truly special. Whether you're staying at the hotel, dining at the restaurant, or simply stopping by for a drink, you're in for an exceptional experience. I can't recommend it highly enough.

I’ve stayed at the Highlander a few times now and loved it. It’s not the most modern or stylish of places but it’s authentic, cozy, comfortable and friendly. The whisky bar is fabulous, we enjoyed talking to all the staff and other guests and spent a good few hours enjoying the huge range of whisky on offer. The bedrooms are well kept, traditional and roomy with proper windows and a good shower. The beds were really comfy too. I’ve only dropped one star because I think the food could be better, there are no vegetarian options and it’s all quite stodgy, which I guess is what most hikers want. The highlander is in a great location, has parking, close to a bus stop and a quick walk from a Londis supermarket. From the inn, you can take a 90-120 minute walk along the old railway line directly to Glenfiddich distillery, I recommend this as a day trip! I’ll definitely be back again to the Highlander, it’s lovey.

Amazing pub and inn in a very picturesque setting in Craigellechie. We popped in a couple of times without a booking and they were able to accommodate us for a few hours for drinks. It’s a fantastic atmosphere and a good mix of locals and tourists unlike a lot of whisky bars in the area that seem to be mostly tourists. The whisky list is fantastic with a wide range of options and a lot of whiskies you won’t see anywhere else, including some exclusive bottlings for the bar itself. Service is fantastic and they have a real passion for whisky. Nice selection of beers all for under £4.50 and an excellent pour of Guinness. There’s a nice beer garden out the back that gets the sun in the late afternoon and evening. All in all a really fantastic boozer and one of the best whisky experiences in Scotland.

In the picturesque village of Craigellachie, where the bourgeoisie and proletariat alike seek respite from the struggles of their daily toil, lies a humble establishment known as the Highlander Inn. This pub, offering a space for the weary masses to gather, represents a microcosm of the greater social structure, where the divisions of class momentarily fade away amidst the shared experience of sustenance and camaraderie.

Within the warm embrace of the Highlander Inn, one can observe the labor of the workers, who diligently prepare and serve the hearty meals and libations that fuel the patrons in their ongoing quest for survival and prosperity. The means of production are clearly at work here, as the raw ingredients are transformed into dishes that satiate the hunger of those who enter this welcoming abode.

In this environment, where the fragility of the social order is temporarily obscured by the shared indulgence in sustenance and merriment, one can witness the potential for unity amongst the people. Here, in the simple act of breaking bread together, the seeds of solidarity are sown, as the laborers and the bourgeoisie alike find common ground in their mutual human needs and desires.

The Highlander Inn, in its unassuming way, serves as a reminder that beneath the trappings of class and the weight of societal expectations, the essence of humanity remains unaltered. It is in spaces such as these that the potential for a more equitable future can be glimpsed, where the shared experience of nourishment and fellowship transcends the divides that have been imposed upon the masses.

As one departs from the comforting confines of the Highlander Inn, one cannot help but reflect upon the lessons that this modest pub imparts. It stands as a testament to the power of shared experience to break down the barriers that separate us, and a reminder of the inherent dignity that resides within each and every member of the...

My brother was home from Australia to Belfast Ireland and expressed an interest to visit the Macallan distillery in Scotland. Staying at the Highlander for 2 nights B&B was a wonderful experience for the both of us, with eating on both evenings from a wonderful menu that would suit a wide range of tastes.|The staff were very courteous and friendly, expressing a great interest and passion for Whisky. The owner named Tatsuya was very welcoming, as was his staff, one of which was named Ben. The Ulster Scots humour was in abundance between us, making our stay very homely. |We found it difficult when trying to get a taxi booked for the Macallan distillery tour, however the staff and owner would not let us be beat and immediately Tatsuya stepped in and offered us a lift in his own vehicle and point blankly refused to take any financial reward for his trouble, from myself.|We could not have stayed anywhere better for a highlands vacation and would thoroughly recommend the Highlander Inn to all who wish to experience a homely welcome in Scotland. Well done to all at the Highlander, if its not broken don’t change it, as the place and service have great character, thanks again for a wonderful experience and stay.|Gerard and...
